Check for vacuum leak.
Check air intake lower boot at elbow for cracks.
Check all connections on air intake.

Any of the above is leaked will cause both banks to be lean.

These codes definitely can come from an intake hose leak

Hey so I've been reading forums everywhere trying to figure out what is wrong with my 2002 530i and I think I've figured it out. I actually have two issues with my car but I believe they are both related. I just had my SES light checked out on my car and it came back with p0171 and p0174. The car has also been making a whistling noise during very light acceleration. So I was looking at information for both and realized they are definitely related. A hose that connects my intake to the engine has a split in it that is definitely making the whistling noise and causing the car to run lean. I attached a couple pics below so that you can hopefully see what I'm talking about. Now if anybody could help me identify the part number for that I'd really appreciate it.

Basically everyone who said to check your intake is correct and I thank you all for helping me diagnose my other issue.

I attached a couple pics below so that you can hopefully see what I'm talking about. One of the pics is a zoomed in look of the actual split (sorry bout the quality I used my iphone). And the other is a zoomed out picture of me pointing to the exact spot where the hose is split so that hopefully someone can identify the part number. Thanks again everybody
