How do you reset the oil change/service message in the dashboard message borad?

Greetings all -

New guy here, with a 2007 BMW X3 3.0Si. Just did the first oil change out of warranty and need to reset the oil change/service warning message that the dashboard message center flashes when i start the vehicle. Anybody know how to do this?

Don't

Just keep track of when you changed it, start a spreadsheet or something to track repairs and maintenance. If you reset you screw up your regular intervals like inspection 1 and inspection 2 etc.

If I recall correctly,
You hold the left odometer reset button while turning the key to position 1 (Accessory). keep holding the button for 5 or so seconds until any of the following shows in the display: OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION with RESET or RE. Release the button and press it again for another 5 or so seconds until RESET or RE flash. While the display flashes, press the button one more time briefly. If done correctly, END SIA should show up for a few seconds.

Search function is your friend. Here's what I did, it's similar to what szee1 stated above. It took me a few tries before I got it done right.
