Z4MR - Trunk Lock Delete

Has anyone ever noticed just how dirty the trunk lock gets? Has anyone either covered the lock over with a emblem or completely deleted it all togeather using just either the inside lock release or key?

You'll lose the valet lock-out feature by doing this.

What is the Valet Lock out feature? A perk that I did not know about?

The valet key can start the car, but it can not unlock the trunk or the glove box.

My glove box doesn't lock. Roadster does?

With the valent key the a pillar button doesn't work? I didn't know that. Never tried it.

I did not get a small black key with this car. Dealership was supposed to have ordered me one but it has not yet come in.

I may just get some insert and cover it up.

Just to clarify by delete I mean covering the lock over on the outside so you can't tell where the key should have been but not removing the locking mechanisms inside.

Give it a more custom look.

Thought about this mod several times when I had my M roady.
I never did get around to it.
It's really too bad that they didn't do the Roundel latch, like on the coupe.

Yes I know, the clean look on the coupe is great.

And that is something I never knew, that the Coupe does not have it ...

It's not the actual glove box that locks, but the "oddments" tray.

Glove box was mentioned.

I looked but I could find no locking feature on the glove box.

I wonder if there is a paint that would adhere to the lock. I would have to be really careful not to get it every where.

Might even be better to take the lock out and then paint it. Couple of possiblities.

I did send a picture and speak to the folks at bumper plugs. But with the key well being so shallow I don't think a plug would have anything to latch on to.

Getting rid of the trunk lock might be a bad idea, you don't want access to the battery reliant on having power.

That thought had crossed my mind, I was thinking of some kind of under the fender pull release might be possible.

I intend to work on it, I will show you what I come up with.

To my knowledge, there is no valet lock-out feature on the Z4M Roadster...I asked about this in a prior thread some years ago. The car comes with two full-function keys (with the buttons on them) and one wallet key which is a full key and not a valet key.
There's no way to lock the trunk and/or centre console and give the valet a separate key on my 2007 MR. If you know of something different, please let us know!!!

That's correct. M Coupe as well. Page 18 in the owners manual.

My M Coupe oddments doesn't lock. Must be broke.
