Hood Shocks

I have a 2002 745i and need to replace the hood shocks. They both went out at the same time...go figure. Just glad I wasn't under the hood when they did. I don't want to be the guy with a broom stick propping a hood up on a BMW. Anyone know how much they cost and how hard are they to swap out. Thanks in advance.

Very easy to pop off with a flat head screwdriver, just push to pop the new ones on.

Mine went out too on my 2006 750LI, BMW dealer wanted to charge $200.00 to replace. Do I need to order two shocks?

Get these they are great, just got them installed last week. They bring the hood up faster aswell!

And BTW, you most likely only have on thats bad, and the other one cant support all the weight. I thought both mine were out as well, one was weaker and one was completely broken. Eitherway, replace both!

Also, i know it sounds retarded, but the job is WAY easy with two people. Had my friend hold the hood, i put them on, took 3 minutes.

Mines went out as well.
One order is not a pair, right?

Do I also have to get ball studs? Or can I simply re-use whatever is there?
Forgive me, I did not take a closer look at the lift cylinder area yet.

Asking this as there was good feedback above the link to EBay - it doesn't work. Anybody have any recommendations for these or should I get the one from trade motion that's posted above?

Your close to me in Bellevue, WA. I can help you install them(if needed). The store I bought them from no longer has any in stock. But search ebay for 745li hood shocks, you will find many sellers.

Thanks guys! Ordered a pair from Amazon. Thought it'd be free shipping, but since it was another vendor I paid some for shipping and got it for 60. Anyway, glad it wasn't another $300 rip off from the stealership!
