E32 740i will not start.....

First off I am brand spanking new to this forum and just really looking some help from someone that knows more about my BMW than I do!

I just did a motor swap and when it was time to fire it up, I turn the key and get a clicking sound but nothing else... sounds like it is coming from the starter but can't tell.

I replaced the battery with a brand new one and still nothing.

Does this sound like i just might need a new starter or is there something else I have overlooked?
Anything aside from removing it i can try to do to test it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like a starter to me. you could try tapping it with a hammer, lightly, or, if you have a known good one from the other motor i would swp it out.

damn it... i was really hoping not to have to crawl under this thing again!
i'm going to pull it first thing in the AM and test it I guess.

simply a bad connection.... a little bit of finger contorting a couple of curse words later and she fired right up.... so glad I didnt have to pull it!!!!

Now if I could only track this oil leak down!
