Cool First Aid Kit on E39 with Sport Seats

I have seen the threads related to installing a First Aid Kit on a E39. I have recently purchased a 2001 BMW 540i that I am trying to bring up to near factory standards in all areas. I know that the US does not support the Emergency warning label used in Germany and I don't think they ship a first aid kit either. At least my 540i (which has the seats with the knee bolster extension...and a big connection at the bottom of the seat..at the front). I don't see how it can be easily installed with these seat hinderances. If you know otherwise, let me know. I do have the First Aid kit now (it looks just like the picture in the User Manual) and ECS Tuning does list a "bracket" that LOOKS like it will work. If any of you have a good solution to this, let me know!

My Dice unit sits under my front seat and I simply velcroed it to the rug.

I am assuming that you have checked this on RealOEM.com

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=52&fg=10&hl=3

It is for the comfort seats but I wonder how difficult it would be to mod it for the Sport seats/

I don't know if this is a "good solution" but here are threads in the bestlinks from owners who installed the first aid kits in their E39.

Ditto what others said above...and if you click on the (2) link Bluebee provided...scroll down to post #17 and you'll see how the 1st aid kit bracket slips up into the frame of the seat...then you use the self-tapping screws to secure the mounting frame.

I had a conversation with someone on either the e39 or e38 forum that was having difficulty understanding how the frame for the kit mated to the seat frame...and when he posted a pic of the frame...I went out to look at my e38 & e39 and saw how it went together. In fact, the sport seats on my e39 (with the THIGH extenstion ) is easier to mount due to there not being leather covering up the slits in the seat frame where you slide the tabs of the 1st aid kit into.

Here's a link to my reply over on BF.C that has a pic of the frame screwed into the sport seats of an e39: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...68&postcount=4

If the frame for your 1st aid kit looks like this:

...then look for the "T" shaped cut outs on the left/right side of the front seat frame (you can see the "T" shaped cut out on the left in the pic below)...the "split" TABS on the 1st aid kit frame slides (sandwich the seat frame between the front & rear "split" tabs of the kit's frame) up into these two "T" shaped pre-cut openings in your front seat's frame, then you take screw the frame to the seat. You'll need to drill a "pilot" hole to accept the screws that hold the kit to the seat:

If I were looking for this item and didn't want to order a brand new one directly from BMW...I'd search the web (especially European eBay auction sites) by using the BMW part nbr...that way, it's clear as to which BMW first aid kit you're searching for:

BMW part nbr 52 10 8 228 146

(see item #2 in diagram below...or pic your model at his link: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref....8146&showus=on )

My 530 came with it already there, however it rattles like hell so I removed it.

Thanks Q. I figured Id buy new since the other first aid box (E46) I got new is only $23. So the E39 shouldnt stray too far from there, should it?

hey Zeus, Im only interested in the box and not the actual first aid kit. now if incase you dont like the box...
