Centre screen backlight failure?

The i-drive screen on my E70 has occasionally not 'lit up' at night and has now stopped 'lighting up' at all. The unit itself works fine, but is unreadable in darkness.
Does anyone have experience of this? Simple replacement of a small bulb/s???
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
