1997 BMW M3-how to reposition clip that holds fog lamp bulb in

I removed the smoked fog light ( easy as it was already broke by previous owner) to replace bulb and now I'm having problems figuring out how that damn multi bend clip with the eye at one end fits back into place to secure the bulb with repsect to the hooked metal piece that is screwed to the housing. I unscrewed the white wire lead and it (the damn multi bend clip) seemed to spring apart and now I can't figure out how the hell to get in back in place.
I know- dumbass question as I'm usually good with this stuff but I was on the phone and all appeared easy.
and Yes, I did try to remove the other fog lamp for comparison but was so pissed I figured I better not force it and wind up with 2 broken fog lamps.
Can anyone post a pic of this clip in place?
