European 2011 X3
New X3 will currently be offered over here with only one engine option at the moment: the 2.0 diesel.
This is a revised unit from the 2010 one as used in 3, 5 and old X3. Old engine produced 177bhp, new one is pulling 184 bhp, and 380Nm, all with exceptional class leading economy figures. Here are the complete specs:
CO2 emmissions have gone lower as well. I had the chance to view the new X3 in person last week, and I must say that it has impressed me alot. As much as I found the old models styling square looking and bland, the new model looks much better. |

Does Cyprus get UK-spec models? That would explain the model limitations, as the Brits also only get the xDrive20d. The xDrive28i and xDrive35i are also offered in Germany now, with the xDrive30d coming in Spring of 2011.

Do both sides of the island get the same BMW's or do the Turks have their own dealer and the Greeks theirs? Just curious, I wondered if there would be different variations on the same island.

Well, in Cyprus we do drive on the left hand side of the road, so being an EU member we only get the right hand UK specced models. At least the free part of the country does. At the turkish occupied north part there are all sorts of cars, as I do see alot of left hand drive cars driving around, most of them brought over from Turkey. Not so safe if you ask me. Imagine driving a right hand drive car in the US..

So I guess both parts of the island drives on the left side of the road. Thanks. BTW, regarding right hand drive vehicles in the US. There are a lot of them, most of the post office delivery trucks are right hand drive!

Not a few of those are actually purpose built in the USA as right hand drivers. I know the Jeeps are and I would bet that Ford also does it on certain vehicles for the Post Office or their authorized contractors. Would be nice to have a diesel Transit van, but the bureaucrats would throw a tizzyfit.

It is a shame you dont get diesels in the US, as there are alot of advantages over petrol models, as the new diesels are more fuel saving and now with the dpfs are envinmentally friendly.
Nice to know that there is awareness of our problem here in Cyprus as well, regarding the turkish invasion of 1974 and the occupation since. Abit off topic actually, but I had a thread some time ago when I went and visited my parent's house at the occupied north part: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...ccupied+cyprus Last edited by Fifty_Cent; 11-22-2010 at 08:43 AM. |

Thanks for the link. I was interested in seeing that. Too much injustice in the world today but at least there is no fighting there. Back in the Korean War both the Turks and Greeks had combat units with the UN and they got along just fine. Too bad that couldn't continue. Good luck!

Being forced out of your house at gunpoint and been able to see that house 35 years later is really some nerve pulling experience. I was only 3 months old when the turkish occupation took place in 1974, and I really admire the courage alot of refugees have had over the years, reconstructing the economy with 1/3 of the island under occupation, something that still remains today. |

Avoiding the "truck tariff" is why Toyota and Nissan have plants in the US.
