Cargo Mat on x5

I bought a cargo mat for my x5...I use the back every day for work. The mat is sliding around in the back. Specifically pushing up against the rear seats. Should the mat slide around?? Or did I put it in wrong?...there is only one way to put it in. Any tips on this?

Did you get the BMW mat? We've had 3 in 3 different E70's and the fit is snug, bordering on tight. No way it could move around. Did the dealer maybe sell you an E53 mat (previous generation X5) by mistake?

Normally I'd agree but not for the X5, very generic poor fitting front and rear mats from my unfortunate experience.

I bought the double sided mat from BMW, carpet on one side, rubber on the back. Plus, it's actually double sized, folded in half normal, but unfold and it will cover entire cargo area (either carpet or rubber) with rear seats folded down, and it has a rubber flap that folds out over the lower tailgate and bumper. Pretty cool. Does not slide around.

Yes, it is a BMW mat from the dealership. The mat came rolled up and they said it would flatten down, which it did. But now sliding. How would I be able to tell if they sold me the wrong mat? I think I threw away the receipt which is the obvious way to tell.

Did you get this from the BMW dealership in Greensboro?? That is where I bought my x5 but I got my mat in Chapel Hill. That sounds pretty cool but is it functional? I use my cargo area every day for work and I really need something back there that can stand up to hauling stuff.

The cargo mat by BMW is made by Weathertech, I think they make all of the all season mats/liners, you can't go wrong with buying from BMW or Weathertech, sounds like your reversible cargo mat isn't as functional as it should be.

does it come with an anchor? seems like it would be big enough not to need one. I have a 3rd row so don't have a mat.

Yep, but they had to order it. Here's the link from BMW's website (pic is wrong, but part # is correct). I'm very pleased with it. So far I've just left it "doubled over" with the carpet side up. But nice to know I can take it out and flip it and have a rubber mat when I need it. I've had the same sort of cargo mat in my Volvo C30, very handy.

I think you are correct. I took my all weather mats out of the plastic wrap the other day, they have a small "WeatherTech" emblem on them. I like the reversible mat, as I normally prefer carpet, and only once in a while need rubber. If you would normally carry stuff that would mess up carpet, it may not be the right choice.

Thank you for that description; that's the mat I was just eyeing in the accessories catalog, but it didn't say it could cover the whole area when the seats were down.

I'll be ordering it next week (we just got the X5__our 3rd__this morning).

That was a pleasant surprise. Neither the website description or the guy at the parts/accessories desk said anything about it being able to cover the whole area. When it arrived, I went in to pick it up on the way to the office. I took the plastic off in the parking lot, and thought there was something wrong, until I realized how big it was. That explained the price. Leave it folded in two, carpet side up, the the "opening" to the rear, and there is a handy rubber fold out that covers the lower tailgate and bumper for loading and unloading. Nice touch.

BTW it's a spendy choice - anywhere from $175 to $230 depending on the dealer (though your BMWCCA discount will help cushion the blow).

I'm nervous about soiling my oyster interior. But on the rare occasions when I need to fold the seats flat and store something dirty ther, I just throw a beach towel over them.

Yes, it was a bit pricey, but the BCCA discount helped. A few pics snapped this morning, showing normal carpet, carpet with flap over tailgate, and with rear seats folded flat and mat opened up with rubber side.

I ordered from Crown BMW here in Greensboro. About $200, but my newly acquired BMW CCA membership yielded a discount, I believe final price was around $180.

Bobamoo, it looks like the mat covers up the tracks. Have you used the tracks with the mat in place?
