Door lock opener/closer

I can't imagine there are no buttons to lock and unlock doors when sitting in car. Is the key fob the only way to do that ?

Center console next to the hazards.

Actually, the button is on the center dash vent panel, yes, where the hazard warning flasher button is. ("Console" may be misinterpreted as that part between the seats where the gear shift lever is ).

Ditto Eirerogues. You would think it would be easy to spot in such a small space but that dash.....

It just intrigues me that people don't even look at the summary diagrams in their new car owner's manual. What gives? It would never dawn on me to operate a complex machine without even cracking open the book to look it over.

Not only must we all read the manual, but there is also going to be a test. If you pass, you get to keep your F10. If you fail, you must give it back and drive a used low end vehicle with no options whatsoever that was produced in the former Yugoslavia.

I don't need to read the manual. I have a 150 IQ!!!

I always thought that BMW put the door unlock button in a weird location. Why not put it on the door.

Yeah, the location seems kooky. The button might be placed there so that the passenger has access to it as well, but the logical placement would be on the door as you say.

Two reasons. With the button in the central dash location, it is harder to reach by trying to stick a hanger (or similar device) through the window to hit the unlock button; 2nd reason (secondary, maybe) -- they would then need two switches, one for each door. The reason our lock buttons sit flush to the door when locked is so it is impossible to lift them with said hanger device -- having the unlock button right on the door would negate the whole purpose for making this difficult.

When my wife locked herself out of her car a couple years ago, the "expert" came to unlock it for us and simply pushed a device through the window to hit the unlock button.
