Memory Seat Complaint
Just got my 2011 535i with dark graphite exterior, premium 2 and sport package. What a smooth and yet dynamic ride! Loving it! But I have one complaint about the drivers memory seat. I used to have an Infiniti I30. Boring car but its memory seat works great: Anytime when you open the driver's door, the seat moves back so you have more space to easily get out. When you seat in and close the door the seat moves back to the memorized position. But my $60K 2011 535i doesn't do that. Did I miss any setup here?
Thanks, Jeff |

No. BMW moves the steering wheel instead.

You can get around this by setting up your second memory position as fully back etc. and then activate memory 2 before you get out.

FWIW, I for one hate the seat moving when I get out -- then have to wait for it to move back to position for driving next time. It's all personal preferences I suppose.

Try it out, I read somewhere something about preventing the seat from moving while driving in the event it was tapped accidently. |

I confirm that. Just need one click when the door is open. Thank! That makes me feel better!

I would have hated it as well. Someone in the other thread wasn't happy about the retracting steering wheel either. So I am sure if BMW has this seat moving feature, we would get users asking how to have it disabled!

Thanks for the tip! Holding that button was really starting to annoy me.

Do you need to use that seat memory frequently?
For me, I hardly need to press it ever once I have adjusted it to my liking. The car changes the seat automatically between my wife and my seat settings. |

We haven't gotten that far yet. I'm still fiddling with the seat myself. I'm sure it will settle down once we get our profiles plugged in.
