for the shifting maybe this helps,a buddy of mine has the same problem but only if on of his tires didn't had enough air,he filled it up with some extra air at a gas station after that no shifting problems happens a couple of times in a month hope this the case for you also good luck as for the sound wouldn't know what it is

Reset your trans. If you need instructions I will post them. Mine does the same thing, I think its just ****ty transmission design in all honesty..... Mine does all sorts of stupid stuff and its only 2 years old.
As for your video, TAKE IT IN THE DAY! A sound issue is hard enough to find, but it doesn't help that we cant see anything either!!!!! |

Put the key fob in, push it in so the electronic come on but don't start the car. Push the gas pedal all the way down (you may feel a slight click) Hold it down to 30 seconds. Release it. Start the car and drive it around and see if it helped.

I just realized that its a 1998, your in the wrong sub-forum buddy. That knocking is prolly a bad header. Not sure what that connector is for.
i dont even know if that trans reset works for that year. Last edited by samadkins29; 12-15-2010 at 04:12 PM. |

I know but there are people who had this car before for sure. Yes it helped me with transmission reset, it does made click noise and transmission work much better right now.

That wiring and connector look like they go to the sensor on the air box (the plastic around the air filter) that reads the intake air temperature.
As far as the other issue, I'd take it to a transmission shop and have them check it out. If it is only doing it on Drive, and not when it goes into sport mode, then I'd imagine that it is something wrong with your transmission. Some shops give out free diagnostics when you bring the car in, so I would get out a phone book and start calling around to see which shops offer this in your area, then I would take it to all the shops that do, and see if I got the same diagnosis at each shop. If all of the shops tell you the same thing, then you've probably found your problem. |

Sorry, meant engine rods, Im not much of a tech once you get to the actual engine. I can do performance mods and basic maintenance. But my knowledge goes down at this point, lol
