The wording "how well educated are you" should be replaced with "what is your highhest level of formal education." They mean different things.

I believe that "PhD" was added after much of the voting had already occured. Many of them may have voted for "Other". Together with the fact that some objected based on the wording of the subject, the poll is essentially meaningless.

But, but, but I'm basing my entire opinion of the edufication of 'fest members on this poll alone.

Every time I hear "PhD," I think of the Friends episode where Phoebe was dating that children's porn author. "Yeah, I've got a PhD. A pretty HUUUUUUUGE ..."

I think we established in another thread that very few of us watched Friends past the first few seasons if at all.

I could be wrong, but I thought there were two camps. Those who stopped, and those who didn't. That's different than "very few".

I recall the "continued" camp was pretty small. Then again, you're right- it could be selective recollection.

With 150 responses (and counting), this poll is far from "meaningless". I think it serves a very good purpose. Apparently someone else did as well, since its been given a special place under news and announcements. Yes, perhaps I should have originally included PhD, if for no other reason than the fact that my wife is almost done with hers.

I find the educational breakdown to be interesting. However, I would not suggest that anyone working on their doctorate should run any statistical analysis on this poll.

I always found it ackward answering this type of question. The last degree that I got puts me in a gray area. I have a Bachelor of Architecture (plus a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies) which is what is called a professional degree that requires 5 years of college. There are other professions that also have a 5 year degree requirement. So in a sense it is more than an undergraduate degree but not quite a graduate degree. Though a 5 year degree or a Masters of Architecture is required in the majority of the States to become a Registered Architect.

Instead of the odd sounding "other advanced degree" how about entering "Post Graduate", for someone who earned their Master's Degree?
Master's in Social Work (MSW).

I am educated enough to know not to answer alot of question that may later bite me!

Ughh, and the ppl who are doing their second masters? .. Dam*, I dont fit anywhere ....

Don't feel bad, my JD does not figure in the world of law enforcement too well either. POST gives credits and incentives to Associates, Bachelors and Masters but never mentions Doctorates which a JD is. So I have to fight to get recognition as a Doctorate holder which should entitle me to everything the Masters degree holders have, such as incentive pay and advanced licensing certification.

as long as the eduacation works for you and not the other way around....I what I mean by this that if you spend your life in school life passes you by fast....

I am at high school and would be leaving it after this academic year, then i am thinking of 'e-business'
