I had my windshield on my F10 535i replaced by my BMW dealer and now the rain sensing feature no longer works. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I can't get an appointment for 2 weeks. Is it possible they used the wrong windshield (i.e., do all F10 have the rain sensor?), or is there a missing connection. I confess I have no idea how rain sensing works. Any thoughts?

The rain sensing feature has to be turned on manually each time you use your vehicle. It does not stay on all the time and it does not turn on automatically. If you are turning the rain sensing feature on, but it is not working, my thought would be that something happened when the windshield was replaced. If you are not turning it on, you simply need to turn it on.

I did read on another thread that there may be two (2) different types of windshields, but this had to do with the HUD display, not the rain sensor. Since the rain sensor is a standard feature on all F10 vehicles, I do not think that there is a non-rain sensor windshield (at least not a BMW one). I assume that it is always possible that if a non BMW replacement part (the windshield) were used, that the problem could be with the windshield. It sounds more likely, however, that, when the new windshield was installed, the connection to the vehicle to make the rain sensing system work was either not done or not done properly.

If you can easily see the sensor to the side of the rear view mirror then I would say it could be as simple as they forgot to replug the sensor in. It could be as easy as just pulling down a few pieces and seeing if it is plugged in...
