2011 550ix - Good deal?

Need to make a decision and looking for some advice. New 2011 550ix with the options below for $250 under invoice plus $1500 holiday cash.

How good a deal? Not sure to take this or do ED. From what I can tell, ED would be an additional $2500 below this price, but obviously entail additional expenses.

The local deal is not bad. No need for a long wait.\ for redelivery.
The ED trip is good if you have the time and plan correctly.
I don't see you going wrong either way.

I have been quoted Ed delivery for similar car at approx. $1k over ED invoice. Can't comment on non ED, but have read on forum that BMWFS lowered residuals and raised Money Factor prior to announcing holiday cash. There are other threads if you are leasing that discuss this. Also, $500 price increase coming after January 3rd.

Frankly, I was a bit surprised the dealer came down so much. which made me wonder how much is still on the table. I'm in no hurry, so the wait for ED is not that much of an issue. Heck, the more I think about it, $2500 toward a pretty cool vacation in Europe. why would I not do EP?

I think by doing ED you will save a lot more than $2500. In my vague calculation at least over $6000. V

Not sure how you arrived at $6k. The US invoice for the 550ix is $57040 (mulitply by .93 and subtracting from US invoice yields a savings of $3993). The options are not discounted and if the dealer gives all of it back. Are you including the Holiday Cash? If so, there is a deadline for locking in by years end and then another for taking the ED delivery. Several threads discussing this on the forum that assisted in clarifying this. The Holiday Cash is available for US delivery also, so I didn't include it.

I'm in MN, and if I'm understanding you right, this is the best deal I've heard of up here. Just to clarify, the car you are describing above (including P2 per your response) has an MSRP of $76300, and you are saying that you can get it for the invoice ($70130) less $250 and an additional $1500 off for a grand total of $68380?!?! Holy smokes!

By my calc. that would be only $1243 above the ED price with $1k figured for dealer profit, without tax, title, etc. If that's the case doing ED might not be worth it other than the experience, considering the pending $500 increase (assuming no additional options included from BMW for the extra $500). I'd double check the figures as it sounds like a good deal depending on lease or finance and how it works out with the holiday cash. Seems like an 11.7% discount, with ED maybe getting to 13% and change. Checked my numbers and local offer price of is actually only $80 below invoice, plus $1500 holdiay cash. ED price is $2993 below invoice (after $1k dealer profit), plus holiday cash. So $ 2900 more to do local vs. ED. Still think I will do ED, but I was expecting the spread to be greater.

Man! That seems like a fantastic deal! I wonder what's up with all the great prices?!?! I have a few co-workers who have purchased 535s & 550's in the last couple months, but no one has gotten a deal like that. The ED sounds cool! I told my wife, my next car is going to be the M5, and we'll do the ED as a fun trip.

Please let us know what you decide. If you do get the car here, please post if the price stays the same when it comes time to buying... confirm they didn't pull a "bait and switch." Are you shopping at Minnetonka, Motorwerks, or down in Rochester at Park Place? Is the car on the lot or are you planning on ordering it?

When I got my car a few months ago, I couldn't get any of the dealers above to bite at anything less than $300-500 over invoice. I ended up going to Park Place in Rochester because they gave me almost $4k more for my 7er I traded in.

carquotes.com shows cold weather invoice as 955 and P2 as 2185. There is also an advertising fee applied to US purchase, but not ED. Carquotes also lists two other gas charges totaling $16. I believe there is also a training fee applied to US purchases. Not sure if Edmunds adjusts price for option combinations. P2 and Coldweather have overlapping features as do some of others. As I was only interested in ED, did not pay attention to advertising and training fees.

Can you make the cutoff dates for ED to get Holiday Cash?
