X5 reverse Issues.

Well I have an 2002 X5 3.0 with 137,000 miles on it. Recently and with no warning the reverse does not engage. No fault codes or messages appear. (no transmission failsafe program appears) The first time this happened I had just used the steptronic for shifting. Now it has happened 2 other times with out using step tronic and pretty randomly. Its has only occurred in the past 3 to 4 weeks. What could it be? Please help!!!!

I see a tranny rebuild in your future. Do a quickie search here or on x5world and you'll see this can be an early indicator of the failure.
Welcome to the board.
