07 Z4 coupe Trunk panel removal. Please!
Need the bluetooth passkey off the part in the trunk in order to sync my cell phone. Any tips or pics on removeing the rear panel to access the parts behind it would be greatly appreciated. Looked at 231 Z4 DIY articles, #60 link no longer working, #92 pretty vague. Did a search on the Z3 Z4 forums for Z4 looked through 995 posts, no joy. I do not have an "M" just plain old 2007 Z4 3.0si coupe. Post by Ron Styger has good pictures of whats behind the panel on his M but no details on how to remove the panel. Actually the thread was started by kav "Z4M phone integration".

After you're done please post a follow up.
I'd like to know if this will be a worth while endeavor. |

A dealer can pull the code using a computer pretty quickly. Should be free.
Otherwise, just buy a $4 "panel popper" from any auto parts store; looks like a two large flat pronged fork with a screw driver handle and a kink in the stem. Then start pulling the plastic rivets that are all over the trunk carpet. They're 25 cents a piece if you break one. |

I just dove in with some trim tools and Ron's instructions. It's a PITA but mostly it is just knowing what direction to pull or pry.

Removing trunk panels
As long as it was apart I took some photos as I put it back together. The photos are in order of assembly from passkey on TCU to the plug in the mat on the floor. Maybe the pics will stay in order on the thread. I was hoping to put comments after each photo but I couldnt figure it out. Only tools i used were a phillips for the 4 screws on the plastic panel at the rear of the trunk, A torx driver for that one screw on the plastic panel under the window, 8mm socket for the 3 nuts on the TCU mount, and a cats paw on the plugs. Took about 2 hours but I wasnt rushing. That last photo of a clip, I believe goes on the tabs along the forword edge of the side panel after you put the tab through the rectangular hole in the back panel, think thats what broke the upper tab on mine when I took it apart. Good luck if you try to put it back on I didnt bother with it.
