I'll post up my oil DIY tonight with reset instructions. It has pictures and is painfully detailed.

Readers Digest version:
You must move quickly between steps. After 2 or 3 seconds of inactivity the car will leave the service reset mode and you will have to start at step 1 again.

1. Press "CHECK" button repeatedly on turn signal stalk until you see the date in instrument cluster display
2. Press and hold the odometer reset button for 5 seconds (you will see triangle then brake fluid symbol)
3. Let go and re-press the reset button repeatedly until you see an "oil can" symbol in the display
4. Release and hold the reset button until you see the word "RESET?" under the "oil can" symbol
5. Release and hold the reset button again until the word "RESET?" disappears. The service interval mileage will reset and the "oil can" symbol will no longer be red.

It's a tricky process and may take some practice since you have to move fast.

This does not work on my car. Display shows current time after pushing that button in for 5 sec I get a triangle symbol as soon as I push it again it goes back to current time clock.

Make sure the date is on the screen when you start. Don't be literal and release after 5 seconds, hold it longer, release after the car on lift icon appears. His instructions should say 5 seconds or so because holding it longer is not a problem and holding to short won't get you in.

Here is a video of the process from a 5 series. It is the same. At the 40 second mark he starts the process of accessing the menu. Note that at the 1:30 or so he gets into and pauses for a couple of seconds. The service menu quickly exits at that point. This illustrates how quick you have to move to keep in it.
