Smile No Bimmer Yet follow up

This is a followup of my 09/07/10 No Bimmer Yet post. I'm having difficulty learning to use the forum. It seems rigid and not very intuitive. I really just need to jump in and start using it, the rest will come with practice.

After 10 long years of lusting after an M3 I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 2006 Imola Red e46 M3 with Cinnamon leather upholstery. It seems to be a fairly unique combination. I don't recall having seen one before. It wasn't my first choice (have never been a red car person) but I found myself going back to it again and again. Since the vehicle had the right combination of features, low mileage and was still in warranty I flew to Florida and took delivery on October 8th.

The 1500 mile drive back to Lubbock, Texas was a blast although somewhat more exhausting than I thought it would be. I forgot that I'm not 28 any longer.

Surprises...none other than the SMG is not exactly what I expected. Even though I had driven an SMG on several occasions it just not the same until you spend some time with it and actually own it. It's definitely not an automatic transmission by any means. Every day is a new day and and I learn something new each time I drive it.

The M3 is not much of a commuter either. I didn't expect it to be but I feel like I am constantly having to hold it back. I love the access and exit ramps on the loop and the interstate. That is the only time I can momentarily let her go.

On the open road the M3 is an absolute dream. More than I ever imagined. I don't know why I waited 10 years.

More later.
