Comfort Access Key Slot?

Just curious why the comfort access equipped Z4s still have the dash key slot. When I was inspecting my car that arrived at the dealership for delivery next week, I thought at first that the CA option was not on the car since other BMW models with CA do not have the key slot on the dash under the pushbutton start. Anyone know the purpose for this?

The other models do have the slot even with CA. Its pretty useful if your key battery runs out of juice (potentially if you accidentally dip it in water)

CA keys are not chargeble. The slot is there for the data copy for maintenance.

Maybe it syncs the settings with the individual key? If you set things like seat position, climate control on on start, etc with the key inserted, it will have those settings when you start the car with that particular key.... But I could be wrong....

Those settings are also stored when you just keep the key in your pocket. I never inserted my key and settings are stored too. If my wife takes the car (when I'm out with the big one) and she has her key in her pocket, she get her seat and mirrors and idrive settings.
