Welcome to the Fest. Sort of a 12 step program for car guys. You will fit right in.

BTW 65 is the new 40 - you've got at least 15 years before anyone considers you a geezer.

Clearly you don't have a clue about cars. Being your first BMW I wouldn't expect you to be such a ********* fanboi already. Getting over yourself it's just a BMW.

Let me get this straight: He is not entitled to his opinion, because it conflicts with your own?

How very un-Canadian of you.......

Posting an opinion is one thing. Calling a brand that outsells BMW in NA a pos is lame. Calling Lexus "inferior" is major fail. Like them or not, Lexus is a major player in the luxury market.

I definitely wouldn't call Lexus a POS. It's a good car for certain people. Lexus is more for women/ older people who like to be pampered. BMW is more for the car enthusiast concerned about performance.

Wow the 2nd Hawaiian to take delivery of an x5 on this board in 2 days. Must be doing good over there at "Molakikinueue BMW"...

Please wait awhile and give a good comparison to your previous Lexus so that mr. maple syrup has some perspective.

They are marketed to two different people and made for two different folks. I have had a lot of experience with the lexus suvs (my ex-gf had one and one of my best friends has one). To be honest they come more loaded than 95% of X5s, have a softer ride, and are about $10k less for comparably equipped vehicles. They are also extremely low maintenance. Perfect for women who want to be pampered or people that just want a luxury car and don't care about how it drives. Lets face it's the perfect chick/soccer mom SUV.

Why chose the X5 then you might ask? It's all in the engineering and performance baby. The BMW x5 knocks the socks off those lexus and drives like a car, not a top heavy suv. That, and it's masculine and mean looking instead of soft and dainty like the lexus SUVs! Just my two cents...

I don't disagree with that assessment at all regarding the RX. The wife had one before her ML. I'm not a fan of the GX and also prefer the sportier feel of my current E70 and previous E53.

It does depend on what you're talking about as far as "performance" goes. Since we're talking about SUV's, the LX is far more capable offroad than any X5 and much more luxurious as well. Doesn't handle as tightly as an X5 but still an excellent full size SUV. Different strokes for different folks.

Ex, this is my first bimmer and I absolutely love it. I am with you on the frequent posts for help. I picked mine up in October and noticed only one exhaust was "working". Thanks to these people's post, I found out the right side exhaust is used for heavy throttle. I also learned that reading the manual helps, but who has time for that

lexus vs. bmw/mb

Traded in my ML for the x5d. My wife drives a Lexus. When people ask how I like the Lexus, the best analogy I can find is: "The Lexus is like taking your beautiful cousin to the prom. She may be perfect in many ways, but you know there will be no 'romance' that night".

I just finished a 2 day trip from Michigan to Hilton Head, SC in my 2010 X5 diesel and enjoyed every minute. You will love this car! And by the way, I'm also 65 and no "geezer", except perhaps for the fact that I had to make the trip in 2 days instead of 1.
This is a interesting and informative website. Welcome.
Enjoy your new car.

Haha great analogy, so true! I may have to steal that and use it if you don't mind!

Unless you live in West Virginia.

Q: When a couple in West Virginia get divorced, is it over for them? Or are they still cousins?

#1. There are NO Lexus SUV's that drive like an X5...As in No, None, Notta, & Zilch! Their just a reliable "Pretty" car!

#2. I dought you have "really" been off road in one. Don't confuse Toyota and Land Cruiser with Lexus. You might want to do a little research about BMW 4WD and Lexus 4WD before you poo poo your Roundel.

#3. Is that your garage or a pic at delivery?

The Lexus LX570 shares its mechanical underpinnings with the Land Cruiser... It is just as capable off-road. The current generation Lexus LX did, in fact, debut before its Land Cruiser sibling.
