Yea, there multiple coding files for each module depending on what software version is detected. It won't do c04 because we are prefacelift and have old software I believe. I will be upgrading idrive pretty soon though, so I will keep you updated. Mine stops on kombi when coding the whole car also.

How did you get past the KOMBI error to be able to get the MP3 and MP3_FOND settings to show up?

EDIT - Thanks for your help so far- if you figure out how to upgrade MMI/iDrive that would be very cool! - I'm guessing you are using WinKFP for that?

And....Have you confirmed that MP3 really does work?

Regarding the software that was contained in the thread linked earlier in this thread...It is not updated to newer version of software correctly.

The NCS data files in that software appear to be version 2.37 (Files were the same from 2.36-2.38.1). However, NCS also uses files that are located in the c:\ediabas\ecu directory, and these files aren't updated to the 2.37 software version.

I used this version of software to make backups of all my modules and it choked on the LMA. My car was choking because the LM_AHL_2.prg file was missing from the c:\ediabas\ecu directory. I checked the files in that directory and LM_AHL_2.prg was not there and many of the other files are very much older than the 2.37 files in NCS. Whoever updated this software updated only the NCS files and not the ediabas\ecu files.

Be careful with this software.

Yes mp3 does work. I use it everytime I drive my 7 now. And yes I tried ncsdummy. Didn't really have much of the stuff converted but does show all possible inputs for each line.

Your car probably choked on lma because you have to turn on ignition when dealing with lma.

No, I had the ignition on.

The files in ediabas\ecu aren't up to date with the ncs files.

If you look at the dates of the files in the ediabas\ecu directory, the newest files in there are dated 2005. V2.37 software came out in 2009. The "real" V2.37 ecu files are dated 10/2009. The ncs files in the package are correct V2.37 files, dated 8/2009.

The files may not be an issue if the car software has not been updated recently, but my car needs the newer files because it was programmed with 2.37 software early in 2010.

I'm taking a break on this for now until there are more details on how to enable mp3 support. I still can't get past the KOMBI error - if you have more detail on how to get past that, I'd love to know. I tried a few different versions of NCS Expert and EDIABAS (including the ones in this thread) to no avail.

My vehicle hasn't been updated recently - I think it was updated once in ~2004.

I need a copy of your FSW_PSW.TRC file for the KOMBI .
I was looking in mine & I must have change something
by accident cause now I can not reset anything
(oil ,spark plugs , coolant , micro filter ) in the secret menu
when you hold the trip meter on the cluster . I would like to
compare my file I saved with yours .

I WOULD HIGHLY APPRECIATE IT & I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE .

Sure! I can help you set up the things or just do it. I have everything on my laptop ready to go. Just PM me, will you? I think you got my email.

By the way, thanks to all other folks, I was able to program almost everything that was mentioned in this long valuable thread.

I was able to successfully code "windows up with remote" as well as "trunk close with remote" To the other ambitious guys looking to do this make sure you know what youre doing because it is easy to screw things up.

My recommendation is to make a backup of the entire car before you change anything. Then as added safety make a back up of each module that you read before you make any changes that way if things screw up you can go back and use the original to recode the module.

Do you have the V2.37 ecu files? I cannot get NCS to read my car.
