Emergency Brake Noise

Just picked up my 2011 Z4 today and was curious if something I am experiencing is normal. When engaging or disengaging the emergency brake there is a noise from the back of the car as the brake actuates. Is this normal?

I hear a slight hum (about 1 second) as the brake is engaged or disengaged. Not sure if it's in the back since I'm always inside the car at the time.

Yes the noise is quite normal. The rear brakes are electro/mech activated. Item 6 on diag 34_1719 http://www.penskeparts.com/DiagramsM...5&rnd=03192010
