Collision, Now SMG Issue, Insurance Coverage?

Had a front end collision a few weeks ago. Had a collision repair shop take care of all the body work - they did an excellent job - the front end paint is much better than before. They replaced a strut also. 10K in expense paid for by insurance. They claimed no engine or frame damage could be found.

Got the car back - and within a week of driving it, the SMG system was dropping out of gear. BMW dealership tracked it to the slave cylinder and they say if that doesn't fix it, then it's the clutch. They also say that they can't show evidence that this was due to the accident.

My beef is that I had no issue prior and soon after taking the car back I have SMG issues. They want 300 for the diagnostics and 620 for the repair.

Any help making a claim that the accident can cause this would be appreciated.

It's and '03 M3 with 101K miles. I don't believe there's been any previous SMG work done on it. I do get the rear bump noise.

Thanks in advance,
