how do you keep your paint so shiny?

Clay bar, swirl remover, pre-wax paint cleaner/conditioner, polish, glaze, wax, and finally "wet paint" (which is said to be a waterless wash/wax product but I use as the final stage in my twice a year detailing and after every wash).

Ditch the eyelids, ditch the front plate mount, ditch the v8 emblem and debadge the trunk like you mentioned and she'll be damn near perfect! nice!

Eyelids are going yes... front plate mounting I doubt it. I live in NY our state requires 2 plates to be shown.as I said it before I'm debadging the entire car the only thing that's gonna stay is the bmw emblems. Thanks by the way... rims and coilovers coming for this spring.

It looked like you had a string of bad luck. Hopefully she'll be happy now and behave like a good girl.

Every time I think about selling my car, I get anxiety about how the next car will compare. Will the new car make me feel like I'm driving something special, will it make me care about it, will it make me turn for one last glance every time I walk away from her. The E39 is special, no doubt about it.

Probably not. But it would probably be much more reliable and less costly on maintenance.

And therein lies the dilemma. Do you go "new" and achieve peace of mind, or do you bite your nails every time you jump in your E39. I make sure my nails are always clean.
