89 325i hood latch

My hood won't latch down, not sure why, the latch seems to work and the cable doesnt look broken anywhere. has any one else had this problem? or any ideas how to fix it?

Remove the front plastic "kidney" section.
You will now be able to see the actual latch and what it is doing.
This latch can be adjusted up or down and sideways a bit...the most common problem is the bolts holding the latch assembly in place come loose and so the latch assembly is out of position.
Use a bit of trial and error to get the latch to clamp down firmly on the metal bar of the hood...you need to loosen/tighten two 10 mm head bolts if I remember correctly.

FOCK YOU!

although we both have e30's and jeep xj's
but seriously... my rad support is bent to hell and there was no way to mount the hinge.

(and before i go to the trouble of welding a new support ill buy another e30, and swap my good parts into it)

and the advantages are: i have full access to my engine bay (no pesky hood to get in the way)
and i can run without a hood during autoX (moar cool)

OP
the return spring is probably fubar, did you try pushing the latch all the way in on the interior of the car and then closing the hood?

I was wondering if you might post a pic of exactly where you mounted the pins underneath the hood? I have the same hood latch problem and think your car looks pretty cool with the hood pins. Nice idea!
