Question Extended Maintenance

Hi Folks,
I am looking to buy the extended maintenance for my 335i.
A local dealer originally offered it to me for $1695, but has retracted and now wants $2100. I know that the dealership (finance manager) has the ability to discount this option, but the person I am dealing with is not budging. My service manager told me to shop around since he believes I can get it for around $1800.

I am happy to buy it from any dealership nationally and am looking for suggestions on a dealership to work with.

Also, do you think that $1800 for the extended maintenance (not extended warranty) is a reasonable price?

Your help is much appreciated!

It's more than a reasonable price for the dealer - but not for you.

The services you are guaranteed under the two year contract include (prices are est.):
2 oil changes @$100 each
1 or 2 30k inspections @$200
1 set of wiper blades @ $50
1 Microfilter @ $100
1 brake fluid Flush @$100

So you can see that the total will be around $500. And if you know you will also need both front and rear brakes including 4 rotors (unlikely) within that period, that adds another $1,100.

So the best you can hope for is to break even - if you could get it for around $1,600.

Put the money aside and self-insure.

Thanks!

Thanks Tom, this is very helpful. I am going to make a few calls this week to see if anyone will sell me the maintenance for $1800. I will need new rear brakes in 7K miles and front brakes in 10K miles. The cost of that alone plus some spark plug work I have to have done soon will make it worth it.

Any suggestions on a dealership that may be open to negotiating?
They're still making $$$

With the brake work, it may make sense.

But are you sure about the spark plugs? Except for the turbo models, plugs are a 100,000 mile item. So if you need them, it should come under warranty, not maintenance.

It all depends on how many miles you drive a year, to make sense, and make a good tax deduction for work.

How many miles are on the car now, and how many miles you plan driving for the next 2 years?

The car only has 45K miles on it and I drive it about 10K per year.

Also, I was told that spark plugs are not covered under CPO warranty. Does that sound right?
