The 6 Series Euro Front Lip

Guys -

This is a new thread from what we were discussing in the "trunk lid" thread.

As a few of us had noted, there wasn't much available (other than high-end expensive units) available for our 6 series as far as front lips.

That was until member "6er" located these on the EBay-Germany site. Which I feel (my opinion) are perfect. They are on their Ebay site for 199 euros, which is about $269 USD.

I have contacted the company and they would ship to U.S, however the shipping is fairly expensive. They would offer a discount if we buy a few (10%), but we would need to look into a possible cheaper shipping source (if able).

In the meantime, I am ordering one first cause we probably need to make sure these are decent (i'll take one for the team).

Just thought I would gauge some interest here by the rest of you if these turn out to be decent quality.

I think it looks really good. Definately gives the front a nice face lift but for me, I already like the way mine cuts on the bottom half of the bumper so I wouldn't go for it. But, I have to give this one a on the styling. Much better than some of the other stuff I've been seeing for the 6, which isn't much. Thanks for taking one for the team SehrSchnell. I would like to see how it fits on your ride.

I have been looking for something exactly like this!!!

PM me with any details, I will sign up for a group buy right now... pending some details.

Is it ABS plastic? How does it attach? Very exciting.

I think this spoiler looks great but it's made of fiberglass. Here is a "google translate" of the product page:

Front lip spoiler BMW E63 6 Series FA032
  • BMW E63 front spoiler lip fits 6 Year 2003-2007
  • For variant coupe / convertible, not suitable for M6
  • Vehicle-specific TÜV parts certificate
  • Mounting hardware, if necessary
  • Installation instructions
  • Front spoiler lip is made from high quality fiberglass material
  • Excellent surface structure allows simple and inexpensive painting (Product is not painted)
  • Material is flexible and unbreakable

I have not seen "flexible" fiberglass. Everything I've seen made of fiberglass breaks on impact which makes it a less that perfect choice for a lip.

That thing looks so sexy...Easily the best front lip option I have seen! I am definitely in if its not 100% fiberglass. I don't want to pay the money for paint and shipping if it isn't going to hold up very long...

Says it's "flexible and unbreakable"

I'm in this group buy if this is true.

PS thanks for taking one for the team.

Can't wait to hear SehrSchnell's report. If it is indeed "flexible and unbreakable" I'm in for sure. Maybe something is lost in the translation and this is actually made of some sort of composite.

Good response so far.

Okay, mine has been ordered. They will be shipping it at once, I will certainly keep everyone in tune when it arrives, get's painted, and installed.

I asked about the material and the company informed me it is a "GRP" (glass reenforced plastics) product.

Some info regarding "GRP";

Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP),[1] also known as glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP),[2] is a fiber reinforced polymer made of a plastic matrix reinforced by fine fibers made of glass. It is also known as GFK (for Glasfaserverstärkter Kunststoff), or simply by the name of the reinforcing fibers themselves: fiberglass.

GRP is a lightweight, strong material with very many uses, including boats, automobiles, water tanks, roofing, pipes and cladding.

The plastic matrix may be epoxy, a thermosetting plastic (most often polyester or vinylester) or thermoplastic.

So it does appear that it is a fiberglass product. The question will be, just how thick and stout is the part? We shall see. I'm not opposed to fiberglass if it's quality .

John

Thumbs up

I am also very interested. What's the shipping like?

On another note, since the new gen M3 came out, I've been wondering what those wheels would like look on a 6. I like it

Guys beware of the Fibre glass quality, it will distinctly look different to the oem part of the bumper, and the paint will not stick on it as well. so you dont want to ruin your front look.
