2011 X3 28i

Just ordered a X3 28i last week for my wife. We were thinking of 2011 RX350, but after test driving the X3, I kind of fell in love. It's my first BMW, so I don't know how the older models felt, but 2011 X3 was very responsive, quiet, and the 28i engine made a nice purrrrr when I steped on it little bit. Had a completely different feeling than RX350.... felt big, bloated.

RX350
Quiet, smooth, handled pretty well. Interior is excellent. Ugly and too big. I already have a 2006 ML500 so another full size SUV was not needed.

X3 28i
Quiet, responsive, good acceleration, excellent handling. Interior is not as plush as RX 350. Smaller than RX350 which I like, looks beautiful. Had to struggle with engine choice, but went with 28i... my wife don't care for the extra power. During the test drive, I felt it had plenty of power. I was also worried about potentially more maintenance later down the road.

Hopefully it'll be here by end of Feb. X3 28i, Nav, Rear camera, power tailgate, keyless entry, heated seats. Hope to be a happy BMW owner.

Congrats! I am trying to convince the wife to at least test drive it. She is now spending too much time driving my 328i because her crossover is just not that fun to drive

BTW anyone has a picture of the X3 28i engine compartment? I want to see how different is it to my 328i which has a similar NA I6 engine.

LOVE the new X3!!!I went in to our local dealer; Shelly BMW in Buena Park to replace a tire on my 2011 135 M sports. Saw the new 2011 X3s; they had 3. I test drove one, fell instrantly in love. Left the dealer with 2011 135 + 2011 X3 2.8. :-D

When I started looking at new cars couple of weeks ago, I was complaining there wasn't anything that I liked. I was disappointed with GLK, too small, tires too big? Looks too boxy. Handling just wasn't hitting the sweet spot. RX350 was too big, down right ugly... was plush inside though.

Then I saw the X3, really by an accident, because I wasn't even thinking about a BMW. I didn't even know X3 came out with a new model. But once I test drove it, it was all over. I ordered one that day.

Beautiful X3, I like AW too. Could you take a snap shot of the entire engine bay? I am thinking about switching my wife's crossover to the X3. Since I work on my 328i a lot, like to see what is like under the hood of the X3 28i, they have the same NA I6 engine, the X3 is tuned for more power.

god, I sure hope not.

I think he was referring to the comfort level (i.e. axles not welded to the frame) of the new X3 instead of the handling. Just a guess of course.

Yes, you are right; I meant the comfort level & roominess of the vehicle.

Thanks for the pics, unfortunately California is a big state, you socal people get the best deals. Do you feel the new X3 almost has as much room as the X5?

Nah, it's the umteenith vehicle (more like the 20th) bmw i've purchased/leased from the same guy for the past 11 years....better give me a good deal or I can always go else where...

I bought my 328 from him a few years back.

how was your experience with him? A long way south treading from OR to CA for a 328.

Just wondering since X3 28i and 528i have same inline 6 with 8speed auto. 5series starts at 45K - 8K more than X3 for rear wheel drive. Both seems to have similar options and accessories.

It was good. Very straight forward deal.

Same with MB. The GLK350 comes with the 3.5 V6 standard, the C350 is a few thousand more similarly equipped, forget about the E350.

At least the X3 28i price compares similarly to the 328ix.

We ordered two last saturday. After 21 different cars over three and half decades of driving, ordered my first White car. We got it with the red/brown color (can't remember exactly what it is called--chestnut?) Ordered the other in CRed with tan interior.
