Fans won't kick on
Well first off hello I'm new to the board but not new to cars.
So my problem is about 2 weeks ago i was picking my old man up from work and i noticed the temp gauge bounce back and forth drove a bit more and it went into the red. Drove it to a shop that wasn't far from there turns out my plastic filling tank exploded. guy fix's the car and tell's me i have bigger problems the fans wont kick on so i have no choice but to tow the car home because i didn't have the money to fix both. Anyway I decided to do some work on the car and found a new fan for like 250 on ebay got it in replaced the fuse before hand just make sure. got the fan in tossed it in and still nothing........ So now im lost could there be a sensor or something or a relay i don't know about ??? I know these cars have a fail safe when it comes to themostat the stick open right ?? Could that be the problem. That's pretty much all i could think ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks |

Usually, the problem is either the switch integrated into the fan fails, or the fan motor itself seizes. You new fan should cover off both of those, so I'd guess the problem is further upstream where those signals are processed. You may have a good spare fan now. Don't know how to diagnose the electronic problem - may need a specialist. |
