There is a long thread here on the DOT.

Most F10s have a DOT but many do not.

Some that have a DOT report that it is not functioning or that it is functioning in its intended purpose, just not always immediately responsive.

One report of a DOT not even being connected at all.

My F10 was in for service last week and the SA told me that there was no required service due for my DOT and that it was really not a serviceable item on the car unless it was determined that the DOT was not connected appropriately.

CRMESQ is the board authority on the DOT and I'm sure will have more "color" around its function (s).

I for one do not have the "dot", and I'm not sure we've determined that "most" F10's do in fact have the dot. In fact, I'd say that most F10's do not have the dot.

I'm still to discover the 'intended purpose' of the 'dot' mentioned in the earlier post.

The "Dot" is the best thread on this site. A must read!

Discovered today when you mute the entertainment system in music collection mode by depressing the dash volume knob, it also pauses your music selection until you unmute by depressing the knob again. Never noticed it before.

This is a handy little box. I keep my EZPass transponder in it and hold it up to the windshield when I need it.

Ok, the one thing that annoys the heck out of me is the dashboard reflection in any light on my windshield, and I have a black interior!!!! I can only imagine what people with light interiors go through. Doesn't anyone notice? It's horrible!!! I mean, to the point of interference with visibility!

I am referring to significant reflection from the "instrument hood" and the center speaker.

Polarized sunglasses completely eliminate the reflections.

Its one of the reasons that no matter which car I drive if it is light out I weaer polarized sunglasses. It also means HUD is not for me, but that's OK.

Why is that I have to get a pair of polarized glasses to "fix" this problem. Why is that when I drive any other car, even the cheap rental ones, I never had this issue to the same extent? BMW really dropped the ball with design on that one. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

I think a lot of it has to do with windshield rake. My Vette is much worse and the Subaru is much less.

Maybe, but what they mean is, there is a depression in the dashboard above the instrument cowl, where the HUD would be. This creates additional visible "lines" on the windshield in daylight. If the upper cowl were smooth, like most cars, you wouldn't notice the reflections nearly as much. I do use polarized sunglasses so it's really a non issue for me. At other times I've just learned to ignore it. To the original poster, how to think that BMW could have avoided the reflection of the speaker grill? Any object will be reflected in the glass -- that is not an engineering issue for me.

I have the same experience.
My Lada Niva gives all kinds of annoyances, but never any reflections.

One thing which I think is most awesome is that when you remove the USB drive from the center console while playing a song and then later when you return to your car you plug it back in, it resumes playing at the spot it was stopped at!!! Now, my CD changers in my other cars do not do that once you remove the media. That get +100 in my book! I mean, that's pretty cool!

100% tint on front windshield

I'm not sure if anyone realized when shutting the car off and the radio remains on, you can push the start button a second time and the radio then will shut off. Discovered it today.
