Issues with my 2011 x5 35i sport

So I have been having issues with my x5. Here are the issues that I am having, please let me know if you are having or had these issues:

1. Rattling noise coming from engine
2. Whining noise (maybe turbo)
3. Trunk door opens automatically
4. Grinding noise coming from brakes. Noise was worse during the rain

Now I took my car to BMW to get these issues fixed but they came back to me saying that hey could not duplicate the sound. I know this guy is lying because the week before the service rep inspected the car and told me that it was coming from the exhaust.

Is anyone else havin these problems?

No, not here, and you should not accuse people of lying just because you don't agree with their assessment.

The exhaust makes noise at various times when you get in/out of the car and during the first minute when you start it. (one side shuts off then back on at about the 1 minute mark) My car also makes a lot of noises when unlocking and locking it, opening and closing doors, and open and closing the truck sounds like it is pressurizing is that what you are describing? If so that's all normal. The truck opening is likely just the button being pressed in your pants when you pull it in and out, or it hits your thigh just right and actives it. I've done it twice myself. Grinding noise in the brakes I don't know about, maybe you're describing the squeeking others have described. Whole 2 page topic on it last week. If it was really grinding the service guy should have heard it.

I am confused. What noise is coming from the exhaust? The rattling noise that's coming from the engine? Or the grinding noise coming from the brakes? Or is it the whining noise that you think might be the turbo......

Bad news dreamer x5, the dealership called. The bumper also had a malfunction, here is the pic they took of it.

Good news is the brakes no longer grind...

Well the rattling noise was said to have come from the Service Rep initially. Any time i'm going up a hill, i always hear this rattling noise coming from the engine if i have both my windows down. I knwo for a fact that i should not hear something rattle when going up a hill. I will be seeing the service rep today to DUPLICATE the sound. The whining noise that i hear might be the Turbo but I'm not sure. I will test drive a X5 today at the dealership to compare.

Rattling noise going up a hill? Sounds like pre-ignition (aka "dieseling") to me. Are you running premium fuel?

(I will not insult your intelligence by asking if maybe you have a 35D instead of a 35I. But I'm thinking it.....)

Sorry for the delay...After getting my car back, they told me that they could not hear the rattling noise as the car accelerates. Now driving 3 BMW over the past 5 years, i have never heard this noise before.

The noise goes in and out as you accelerate. This can't be normal. By the way my car is the 2011 X5 35i. It is not a Diesel. I can hear the Turbo which is fine but i'm also getting a rattling noise from the engine. Can anyone put some input into this?

I am going to Test Drive an x5 this weekend to find out if this is normal. Will update next week.

Just read a post on Xbimmers.com from another X5 35i owner who had the similar issue that i am having. Apparently he has a new x5.

Have you tried taking them for a ride, to show them the noise?

Yes...I took the Service foreman for a ride. he could not hear it. But i could hear the whole way through. I just tried to test drive a X5 right now buyt could not due to the dealership moving to a different location. Just my luck!

It's obvious to me that no one else is having this issue because i can guarantee you that if you heard the noise coming from your X5, you guys would be concerned as well.

From half a continent away, I will say once again that the noise you are describing sounds like pre-ignition, commonly caused by low quality fuel (either too low an octane or too high an ethanol content). There are lots of threads about how low quality fuel (Costco is often cited) can cause similar problems. Do us all a favor and try filling up with a tank of super premium (Sunoco Ultra or the like) from a different brand / station than you normally use, and let us know if it makes a difference.

And I am completely baffled by this post. It sounds like you are saying you want to test drive an X5 to see if X5's make this noise. Don't you have an X5 now? Isn't that the vehicle you are complaining about?

Before you start calling other folks (who are trying to help) names, you really ought to work on your communication skills. Even if English is your second language, you should be able to post in a way that folks can understand you.

If you only put Super Unleaded, try changing stations. And if you need to be a d*ck, find someplace else to play.

(BTW if you want to edit a post to make yourself look like less of a jerk, you should realize your original post is cached, and easy enough to pull back up. It is almost always better to edit a post BEFORE you submit it).
