e46 M3 problem HELP!

hey guys I'm fresh here, and I really need help with a few issues w/ my m3.
I have an 04 e46 m3---SMG--- with 70k.
One of the problems is a constant smg light on my speedometer...I noticed that when the hood is open, the speedometer doesn't read that it indeed is open...
no codes pop up when I had it ck'd...I'm thinking its either the hood sensor or the relay(smg)..Help!

& the other problem is that my car doesn't want to go in Reverse from the first try..I noticed when turning the car on the "N" blinks.....HELP ME FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

How old is the battery?

about 2months old, but I didn't use it for a while so I charged it up. It works fine, I mean it starts the car and what not...
what gets me is that the car doesn't indicate the hood to be open when it indeed is...I can't help but think that somehow that issue is correlated with the smg light issue...

There have been a few software updates, one of which fixed seomthing that was causing the SMG light to come on.

Hood open should be a blinking shift number.

And do you have your foot firmly on the brake when shifting into reverse?

****IF anyone knows what the two flashing red lights are n the speedometer I would be most greatful! everytime I turn the car on, theres this beep sound along with the little flashing lights on the speedometer, and then it stops after pms'ing for about 5-10 seconds....Anyone? PLEASE HELP THIS CITIZEN!-------****

For software updates, you need togo to the dealer.

The last one was a service letter, so it was free.
