Since the M5 will retain the F10 body, the main things people are waiting for aren't largely cosmetic. Engine, double clutch tranny, ceramic brakes, carbon fiber roof?
More importantly, can it hang track #'s that best the Panamera Turbo?
0 to 60 4.0 seconds,
100 mph takes 9.0 seconds
top speed 188 mph

The M5 Concept car will debut at the Shanghai Autoshow in April .

(Geneva get the BMW Connected Drive Roadster Concept in it's place. It is a Preview Concept of a future two seater Roadster destined for the luxury market but equipped with BMW Connected drive technology.)

First details of the F10 M5 Production car will be launched in mid-summer
Production car will be shown at the IAA Frankfurt for it's World public Premiere. US Public Premiere will be at the LA Autoshow in November.

At first glance I thought it was an M3 sedan!

I think this thing is going to be so expensive that it's going to be out of reach for the majority of buyers looking for a sportier F10. I therefore hope BMW pulls out all stops and creates a show piece, a race car made to look like an F10 rather than an F10 with some carbon fiber bits and a monster engine.

X5m starts at 86k and X6M start at 90k. Add a few options and it's easily 6 figures. I'm guessing the M5 will be right there, if not more.

Yeah, I think 100k minimum with taxes. Probably more like $110k.

Fat (and I do mean fat) chance. Anyone wanna bet that the curb weight starts with a '5'?

I really hope not, but I will not bet against it.

Why would it?

A 550i is 4343 lbs. Given that the engine will essentially be the same, the transmission probably won't weigh much more, and it should go on a modest diet, it should weigh
in around 4,300 pounds max.

Yes, I'm being a cynical ass. But the BMW brass are not benchmarking the E30 M3 Evo for the M5. They have their targets squarely set on the Panamera. And that's not good news for those of us who still care about how this car drives.

Oh, and if it does come in at 4300 I'll run naked through the bimmerfest forums. Remember BMW bases curb weight on base models (no options, all fluids, no driver). As the M5 will have virtually all options, I'm betting on a realistic 4650 lbs. Throw in the HUD, Vented Seats and Latte Maker and you'll get frighteningly close to 5k. Biggest Loser territory for sure.
