7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Unregistered/wrong type of battery?

Hi all,
I've read that the several system issues I'm having with my E65 could be caused by an unregistered/wrong type of battery. It looks like a new non-AGM battery and I very much doubt it was registered to the car.
Firstly...my E65 does not have start/stop so does it matter that the battery is not an AGM?
Secondly...could somebody pls recommend the Windows 10 compatible software I need to work on the car? I'm a complete novice at all this and would need a dummies guide to INPA/NCS, etc...

Many thanks

Here's a thread that discuss the subject on the battery issues. It's not a matter that it's not an AGM. BMWs non AGM batteries early on. However I believe they went to a AGM to protect electronics from corrosion. As far as your Windows 10 question is concerned, someone may answer that, however from what I understand you'll need to run a background program for a lower windows operating system such as XP. However someone may have come up with one that runs directly on windows 10. Here is the thread to the battery question.
