760Li 135K I'm working on a bunch of other threads right now regarding specific issues, but to generally add to this thread:
1] Sliding sunroof cover does not crack open when you tilt the sunroof open for a little ventilation. It used to.
2] The 760Li long-cranking and occasional hesitation or bumpy idle or dying at a stop light issue. (probably HPFP, will look to see if my fuel tank vent tubes are full of gas tonite--if so, hello $$$$)

otherwise, drives great at 135k, and everything works...as well as most cars at 20K.

Got a enigma for ya... Had the infamous P0491& P0492 for awhile and I know what that all entails. I usually turn CEL off and wait to catch it before it comes back on the get inspected. Well light was on this morning and when I got home from work I did some stuff round the house got back in the car to run to store and no CEL!! So I'm puzzled do what I had to do go back home put scanner to it and it says all is ok!! I'm ecstatic right so figure I go run to inspection station to get inspected. When I get about mile from house light comes back on so I pull over scan again and now I have a P1327 code yet everything else shows ok. I just went ahead and cleared code and will see what happens tomorrow bc station is closed now. Any ideas out there on what's going on with this new code. Now I have just started using this additive by Penray which my Indy told me will help clean carbon and my help with my secondary air system as well. Do you think maybe its breaking up and clearing out carbon in the system so soon. Just added it this past Wednesday surely it's not that good a product and my ports and rest of system been clogged for almost 2 years now....

Yes I think so? Well I do,, every car has it THINGS, but people Have high expectations of the seven series because of their initial cost. Drive a cheap car and all the noises seem to be normal? being high-priced or low-price no transmission should fail under 150,000 K just my opinion I have probably about eight cars and I can't believe that you have a transmission issue with under 100k . My ford edge 209,000 km so130-135,000 miles has never had a Warranty claim since the day I bought it.So can't believe at 60k people have horror stories.

Re, what is wrong

I have had the same problem from when I obtained the car (4 years ago 34,000 miles) and no one can seem to cure the issue despite having 4 MOT,s 2 alignment checks and numerous checks carried out by main dealers and BM indies. I have had the discs and pads changed (OEM parts), just waiting to have a new set of tyres fitted to see if anything improves.

The issues I have are steering shimmy (35/45 and 65/80 ish) Along with a feeling of looseness and the car not being planted on the road, however it is dependent on the road surface, with smooth Tarmac being no problem with the car riding well.

Any ideas on what could be wrong gratefully received.

John,
Did this start happening with larger wheels? Try a shop that has a Hunter road force machine. Try this website..
www.gsp9700.com/.../findgsp9700.cfm
You need to have the wheels on this particular machine which will let you know where the problem areas are, on the tire or rim..

Also do a forum search, keywords - shaking, vibration, shake, shimmy. This will get you to threads that discuss this issue in detail

Hi

No, as the car has always run on the same OEM 18 inch BMW wheels with either Bridgestone or Michelin primacy BMW fitment (star symbol on the tyre)
tyre size is 245 x 50 x 18

I would love to put 22 inch on such as you have on your car (stunning looking by the way) however the roads in England can be shocking and suspect that untold damage will be done running 22,s

Re the Hunter wheel machine, not sure if any available in England but will try and source an outlet. (link you supplied is currently not working.

Many thanks for the reply and advice.

Not sure that link worked before.. Google "Hunter Road Force Machine" Thanks for the compliment. You could have a bent rim, out of round tire, balancing could be off, among other things. Shaking in the steering wheel has to do with the front end and shaking in the seats are typically the rear.

Driver side mirror will not unfold, it parks itself just fine, my CD changer will reset to a different track after switching off the engine and leaving it in the garage for a day. Still love the 750i and m in awe of its power and luxury.

My extended warranty finally came through from purchase of my car late last year. 04 745Li with 62k on it. extended warranty is through fidelity and is the Premium, until 10/2014 or 108k. Had issues on the transfer due to communication, and was finally transferred middle of February.

My Alt has never worked correctly from when I bought it with 62k on it. When it is cold out it would take several minutes to warm up then I would have to keep it under 1k rpm and wait for it to engage (start whining) or shut it off and start it again. The voltage would range from 13.5 to 15.4 when working. Yeah, well today with 70k on it I finally had it replaced. Paid my 100$ deductible, and my indy charged ~$908. I am so happy it actually didn't go out in the ~8000 miles I've driven in the last 4 months. I am so happy I don't have to wait for it to engage charging for fear of not being able to start it next time.

Had a transmission leak from the pan that was replace under a year ago, Indy shop replaced free of charge.

Had an accident back in November lady back up into my passenger side rear door. Got a new door out of it and complete passenger side buffed and painted where needed. Actually worked out since I had some dings and scratches that needed to be remove. Since then my steering column won't move up and down still trying to figure that one out. Moves in and out just not up and down. Don't hear the motor trying to run so may need a new motor......someday. Tried the fixes I found on here but none were successful.

Mechanically no issues, car has been running flawlessly.

Bwahahaha! Where do I begin? Lets see,....well first of all, my 7 is currently in the shop for the weep hole issue. Fortunately for me, the AGA pipe will bring the repair bill to a more manageable 2k dollars rather than BMWs 9k+ dollar option.

Secondly, my valve stem seals need replacing due to the common blue smoke after idle problem..(mistakenly referred to as white smoke by many).

I managed to take care of the secondary air problem (po491 & 492 codes) by recoding the computer to bypass the obd and get through emissions testing.

That's it for now other than a few other minor issues such as the driveline 2 - 1 gear clunk.

If this car weren't so damn fantastic to drive and beautiful to look at, I'd promptly drive it off a cliff AND remain behind the wheel!
