I was wondering, anyone can share their experience with BMW SOS. I jsut purchased an F10 and I am debating weather I should keep my AAA roadside service or cancel it. Please share your thoughts, thanks

I'd say cancel, they will both probably call the same local towing company when/if needed.

Unless of course, there are other AAA benefits that make it worth it.

I save far more on Hotel stays using my AAA membership than what it costs..... you dont have another vehicle in the household?

We have both. As pkfinman noted, even though the BMW Assist service is "free", there are other benefits to having AAA. I don't think I would let AAA tow my BMW, but they are fine for a jump start, changing a flat or running out of gas. And they might get to you quicker than the BMW Assist folks. Or not.

OTOH BMW Assist can do lots of neat stuff AAA cannot, like opening your car for you (via telematics) if you lock your keys inside. Last year, we got a call from a neighbor while we were on vacation, letting us know that the alarm on our X5 (locked in our garage at home) was going off. One call to BMW Assist and the car was unlocked, the alarm turned off, and peace and tranquility was restored to the neighborhood.

I had to use BMW Assist/SOS on a Sunday in December over the Christmas holidays due to my water pump failing while traveling back from Louisiana to Georgia. I was on the side of the highway, hit the SOS button, it connected and I had a person online within 10 seconds. They immediately called a tow truck for me who showed up about an hour later, towed it back to the BMW dealership in Baton Rouge (luckily I was about 40 miles outside of Baton Rouge which is where I had just left from). All free of charge. Seemed to work well for me, however, I do not have AAA. Only use BMW Assist for now. They even called me back on my cell to verify the truck was there and if there was anything else needed. They were willing to help me find a hotel since I was out of town and that they would reimburse up to a certain amount for food and lodging if needed. You must be 100 miles or more from home for the reimbursment.

Good Luck!
