Sophisto Grau

I keep seeing this color mentioned on the forum, but don't see it on BMW's site. Is it a special color that is only available if you take ED?

It is actually the German name for the Dark Graphite Metallic Color paint.

Now that is funny. I thought that you went to the BMW Germany site and looked it up.

Would you do a grey interior with Sophisto Grau? Going to be ordering my 528 soon. Opinions please.

I have a 535i with Sophisto Grau (sounds so much better than "Dark Graphite" ) and the Everest Gray interior. Obviously, I think it looks great!

Truthfully, I preferred the look of the Oyster/Black interior with the Sophisto Grau, but was concerned that the leather was just too light and wouldn't stand the test of time in terms of wear, stains, dye transfer, dirt, etc.

I'm not a huge fan of the gray interior because of the gray carpets and mats. I'd do Oyster (natch) or black.

But that's just me.

I'd rather have dirty leather to clean than dirty carpets. But I could be being stupid here, LOL. After all, you can't shampoo leather.

But my Volvo had tan carpets and tan mats and it was a mess.

That was a concern to me too, but then I realized that the floor mats make the problem largely solved: easy to remove and clean, and worst case, can be easilly replaced. Worst case for leather is "really bad news". If they had black/grey, I'd have opted for that.

I'm only 6 months in, and winters here in california mean a bunch of rain on cement, and not much dirt/grime. So far, so good. Of course, time will tell.

I had black winter mats in my Volvo full time. The tan carpet still got filthy above. Of course, that was in the North East.
