March Price Hike -- 3 Sedan only or across the board?
I keep reading the base price for the 3 sedan will be increasing March 1 and Step will become no cost option. Will the coupe and vert also be going up or is this increase targeted to sedans only?

Trying to figure this out as well. I think the coupe's price may be increasin $300 but not sure and also not sure if its just the MSRP going up or if the invoice is going up as well. This has got to be one of hte worst jobs at communicating price changes/ optino changes ever.
For what its worth, on my 335i RWD coupe march build ED lease, the monthly cost went up $13 after adding metallic paint and msport (replacing jet black and regular sport per march build rules) which was less than i thought. But this hasn't been run by BMWFS yet so not sure if its a mistake. The only way i get the samenumber as the dealer is to assume a $300 increase in base MSRP w/ no change in invoice. Not complaning--just crossing my fingers. They did reduce the price of the msport pkg so I'll give them credit there. Last edited by bmw325; 02-19-2011 at 12:09 PM. |

Someone posted the MSRP price sheet for the E93 over on e90post. Looks like $950 price hike on MSRP base but Step is, in fact, N/C. Also cold weather package slightly less expensive if you get the "new" M package. Bottom line: if you order the car fairly loaded your net cost goes up a few hundred (assuming invoice for options).

I think the cold weather package is less because you cannot get a heated steering wheel with the M sport pkg.

So if Auto is N/C. Is it extra to get a manual?

No. BMW is doing this IMHO because the vast majority of cars sold in North America are automatics. It seems like good business practice to make the automatic a no cost option and the manual is also a no cost option. Same price and pick your preference. Do not exect to see many manuals in dealer inventory and you, most likely, will have to order to get one.

No, manual will not be an additional cost option. However, based on how they change the price, one of two things is likely to happen:
-base price remains unchanged, automatic becomes no cost upgrade = net result is that people buying automatics save ~$1300 vs. the old price; people buying manuals are unaffected -base price increases by some amount close to the cost of the automatic option, and automatic becomes no cost upgrade = net result is that people buying automatics are unaffected, but people buying a manual get a ~$1300 price increase vs. the old price Or possibly a price increase somewhere in between those two options.

I was just in to see my CA this morning to put an order in for ED on a 328i coupe. He showed me the BMW bulletin stating the MSRP is going up by $950 on E92s (and E93s). However, to offset this, steptronic is now a no cost option. Sucks for those ordering manual, though! Looked like most, if not all models were increasing in price, but I only saw the $950 amount for the E92 and E93. Don't know exact amounts on the other models, sorry!

No, but my CA said it's probably proportionate to the MSRP raise. So if the 328i coupe is now $37,650, invoice is usually 92% of that, which would make it $34,640. Can anyone confirm if invoice prices have gone up, too? I can't imagine that after raising MSRP that invoice wouldn't go up as well. My CA is going to get the ED invoice for me once BMW NA confirms the date and he submits the order. I'll let you guys know if ED invoice went up. I have a feeling it did.

I do not have the pricing info, so I am not sure. My figure of $875-$900 was based only on the prior post that mentioned that his CA confirmed a $950 MSRP increase.

This news makes me happy that I ordered my MT 328i last September and picked it up in November.

I just got a e-mail from my CA after e-mailing him yesterday and asking him if there was going to be a $950 price increase on the 3 Series and would it affect me. He first sent me an e-mail saying that we were OK, and then 20 minutes later he sent me another e-mail and quoted this from the e-mail that he had received from BMW (bold and italic mine):
"Sorry for the confusion. Normally this is the way price protection works for our European Delivery vehicles. In this specific case I realized it has not been announced how the price protection will work. Price protection is not decided by our department. An announcement will be sent out by the Sales department at BMW NA prior to the March 1st increase explaining details of the manual transmission price increase. Please wait until that time to confirm if the vehicle will be price protected with your customer." So the March price sheets show that there is a $950 price increase on the E93 (and probably all 3 Series), Steptronic will be a n/c option (now $1550), and DCT, only available on the 335is but currently with a $1495 credit, will drop from $1525 to $495. So anyone who wants a manual transmission after March 1 is bearing the brunt of the price increase! It's funny how BMW is phrasing this as a "manual transmission price increase".

Is the price increase determined by your order date or delivery date?
We have a MT 328i that is on the slow boat from from baltimore to brunswick right now and is going to be cutting it close to get here by 1 March |

Order date and production date. You should be good to go at the price you agreed and signed on the P.O.

My CA sent me an e-mail early this afternoon indicating that BMW has issued a price protection bulletin and that the price for my car was locked in at the pre-price increase price.
Since my wife and I were out doing errands later that afternoon, we decided to stop in and see him. He showed me Bulletin V-5-0311-16 dated 3/10/11 which locks the price for any manual transmission vehicles ordered on or before 2/28/11. There are certain time conditions that are must be met, which I think was delivery by 5/31/11 but ED vehicles are not subject to this restriction. He had a copy of this bulletin in my file. He didn't offer me a copy and I didn't ask. He said that I could find it on the Internet. I've searched and haven't found anything. I'm thrilled by this because I was starting to think that BMW was going to penalize me for wanting a manual transmission. That just seemed unthinkable.
