Struts And Shocks?
Can someone explain to me the difference between shocks and struts? It appears to me that the BMW's have shocks in the back and struts in the front?
What's the difference? I know I am a total noob, please bear with me.. |

Springs should be good to go well past 100k miles. A friend has 165k on his E36 and just replaced his stock springs with a new set of stock springs and noticed only a marginal difference in ride comfort. I would imagine most street driven E36's will go their entire life on the original springs, even if driven 200k+

Springs can easily last upwards of 200k miles and perhaps beyond. The killer of springs in some parts of the country is often rust. The bottom portions of them can become corroded and actually break.

It looks like you can get springs for pretty cheap. Has anyone here ever used KYB struts/shocks?

Check my site for pricing on Bilstein suspension products for your car. Bilstein offers a lifetime warranty to the purchaser so while they are a bit more than budget brands you get a great product that you will have as long as you own the car.
