Might be a moot point, though. The dealer would need to have an unsold build slot in the next five weeks to even get a spec-built 2011 35d. With five weeks of production left, and the next two or three weeks builds probably too far along to change to your specs, that's a mighty small window for them to have an available build. Did they give you a production week and number?

I'm in California. I didn't sign any contract, but they took a $1000 deposit and I signed at the bottom of a form with all the features I wanted in the car. I need to go home and see if there is any fine print. Yes, they knocked off $500 MSRP on the car. They gave me more than what other dealerships were offering me for the trade in. They took possession of the trade in already, so can they make me take it back since I'm not buying from them? This salesperson is slick... I called and said I was getting better offers elsewhere and they said that everybody is lying. I don't know who to believe anymore. Two other dealers claimed they had 35d slots available... one had 2 slots, the other had 1. What do you think?

Ok I reran my numbers correctly, adding BMW Apps bring the price of the 2012 to $400 more than the 2011 (MSRP) but I would get, rear shades, rear heated seats, better stereo and of course BMW Apps and the angel eyes on the 2012. Now the question really is, what's up with the ECO credit. If it stays the same or goes up (unlikely), then the 2011 isn't a very good deal anymore.. We shall see.. Mine should be on the line right now, I don't have the production number yet, should have it tomorrow morning.

Do you know if the BMW apps which I hear are vastly improved for 2012 can be retrofitted into a 2011 unit? can you also retrofit the usb/ipod connection on a 2011? Thanks...

I'm going to call the dealer when they open today. I turned over keys to them on Sunday and they were supposed to send me a check for the equity in the car. I shouldve made them give it to me on the spot. Anyway regarding the other dealer. I ordered last night and got a production number. I did not get a production week. I also have to get my deposit back too. Hopefully they won't make a big stink about all of this.

Was at teh dealer today to talk about ordering a 2011 35d but they are no longer taking 2011 orders. Everything ordered from this point on will be a 2012.

So, looks like I'll be paying $500 more than my original 2011 spec if I adjust my options according to what I wanted, which effectively means not needing the tech or rear climate packges. But I gain comfort access!

However, my CA just emailed and said 2012 diesel isn't avail til Fall and I would be getting a 2011... i just emailed them this link so hopefully they get my order correct when I go in on Monday to sign!

My salesman told me the same that 35d would not be available till fall. He even showed me the bulletin from BMW NA. Since I am here in Germany, the owner called Munich, but will not get a answer till Monday. They usually get military pricing later than when it comes out in the states, it has been that way since I bought my 325 in 2006. I hope this info is correct that I am reading here. If it is the case that the 2012 35d will not be here until the fall, I will be waiting till Oct. I priced it out, and with military sales, if we get the same discount off the base price as this year, I can get everything that I ordered on my 2011, + HUD, and Auto High Beam (I could live w/wo) for $500 less.

Now i am just confused. The CA told me that I can only order a 2012 35d and I would probably have the car in about 8 weeks. What I am hearing here is that the updated 35d won't be available until the fall. Does that mean I will be able to order the 2011 until the fall? It wouldn't surprise me if the CA was mis informed. Hopefully I can still order the 2012 because I know the eco credit is in effect now but it may not be in the fall. I will have to call the ca again tomorrow.

I was just infomed by dealer today that the current ECO credit expires on Feb 28th only applies to 2011 model.

The base of 2012 diesel is largely boosted, I won't be surprised to see the current eco credit extended.

I was intestered in diesel, however, I found many options in 2011 were forced throwed in base price of 2012 model now; For example, in order to get rear side shader, real climate control, you have to order the new $3500 "premium package", which was in $820 real climate package in 2011 model. I would much prefer 2011 options configuration.

In 2012 model, we are now debating to get 35i rather than 35d.

Got a 2011 X5 diesel on order now that I can use $2500. ecco credit of $3500, and pay $1000 over invoice....well equipped but forgot to add ipod adapter....and now I see 2012 has BMW apps which I hear can't be retrofitted on 2011....I am now deciding to keep order or go for the 2012....

I agree with you about the 2011 configuration, I was willing to pay $900 for rear climate just to get the shades but $3500 is a bit much just to get sun shades. I don't need much in the way of options, I only wanted heated front seats, the iPod adapter and rear climate (that is how my 2010 is equipped) 2 of the 3 are now standard but I will have to learn to live without the rear shades. The 2012 has a lot more standard features. In your next post you mention using $2500 in addition to the $3500 Eco credit. Is your dealer offering an additional $2500?

I just looked on RealOEM.com and teh rear shades are $400. I will wait and to a retro fit assuming it can be done.

I wasn't very clear on my post. I have a deal to respond to on Monday on a Diesel X5 fairly well equipped. My dealer is going to give me the vehicle $1000 over invoice. Plus, they will still give me the $2500 deduct for financing with BMW because I ordered right at the Holidays. I got this deal plus the $3500 ecco credit....seems like pretty good deal...but now with the 2012..

My 2011 doesn't have BMW apps, Ipod connection, plus I don't know if the 2012 have other improvements?? Can I retro these features on a 2011 or just buy a 2012....thoughts?

Go for the 2012. Retro fitting is often cost prohibitive.

Can anyone post the 2011 price sheets/packages for easy comparison?

Did the 2011 have the side view camera in the tech package?

Also, what's the difference between "Base Price U.S.A. Port of Entry" and "Base Price Diplomatic U.S.A. Port of Entry"?

do you still have the car??? If they already have it, I think you're done. If the 2011 hasn't gone into production yet, ask them to change it to a 2012. And are the other lower deals on a 2011 or 2012???

for me the HUGE things that would have pissed me off would have been 4.0 and 8 speed trannie. since that didn't happen I am happy with my ordered 2011 35d
