2008 X3 or 2010 X3?

We're shopping for X3s. Apart from the approximately $6,000 price, is there much difference between an 08 X3 and a 2010 X3? Things to look for or avoid?

We like the idea of the warranty and maintenance with the '10 X3. Other things we should be aware of?

Also, we don't really want Nav, but lots of them seem to come with it. Can you shut it off?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

If you don't want nav, just don't turn it off. I would go with the 2010.

+1.

But beware, 2010 is probably not going to be a CPO, because it is too new, so you will have to buy your own CPO warranty.

That was the case with 2 2010 cars I looked at.

Oh - no CPO for 2010? Didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. Hmmm. We love the idea of CPO.

Hey, you have a ton of OEM warranty left with a '10! Who needs a CPO when you have a great, and much much better warranty aready there. After you drive the car for two or three years (keeping it under the magic 50K mark) you may not even like it anymore. Get the car you like and don't worry about a CPO on a '10 X3. Just my opinion.

I had a new 2008 X3 on a 2 year lease and last Spring wound up leasing a new 2010 X3. The difference has, for me at least, been HUGE in favor of the 2010. First, my 2008 had the auto tranny problems notorious in 2007+ models. I was really gunshy about getting the 2010 because of that, but took this black one they had on the lot on a long test drive and the difference was immediately and consistently apparent, and has happily remained so. Other improvements in my case were 19" wheels (didn't think I'd like 'em as much as I do) and most of all, BMW's top-of-the-line "multi-contour seats" which are just sweet-- no comparison to the standard M Sport seats (both 2008 and 2010 I have owned are M package). And for you the ability to drive it for 3 years with full warranty should be a big factor. So, I gotta weigh in for 2010 as well, despite the price difference.
