2011 X5 35i 200 Miles Check Engine Light On
Just took delivery of a new 2011 X5 35i on 2/16 and CEL came on last Friday.
Took it in to the dealer on Saturday, they had it plugged in all day but couldn't get a code. The reason given was there was an issue with their terminal. This morning they called and said it was a dmtl code (don't know the exact code yet) which is a known issue and they fixed it by updating the software. Has anyone on this forum had the same issue with thier new X5 and what were you told and was it fixed? Thank you to everyone for your feedback. Here are the codes: 3227 & 32E5. It was fixed per SIB 122410. Last edited by aminh; 03-01-2011 at 03:10 PM. |

Please help!!! Need an advise! I have 2008 X5 3.0 with 28K on it currently. Had recall for fuel injector. After it was replaced problems started. Had gas smell inside cabin and engine noise on occasion in drive mode but while stationary. Took it to service, they said it was radiator fan--changed that together with radiator, because noticed that it was leaking (??). Last week engine light came on. I had to go to gas station same day, after filling the tank, couldn't start the car. Eventually it started but only after pumping the gas pedal while pressing ignition button. Took to service, they told me that one of the wires in the area of fuel injector was loose. (admitted that it might have been their fault). Picked up my car and guess what? 24 hrs later same story. BTW, in the description of service states that fuel injector is fine, fault with sensor but after running the test everything is ok. What should i do? the car is almost 3 years old, is lemon law still active? should i trade (financing it currently). anything to demand from dealership???? Please help!

similar problem but no solution yet
I've had this problem within days after i purchased my new BMW X5, and they told me i needed updated software. Well its bee over 12 months now and i went to my first scheduled service maintenance, they upgraded the software to the latest levels, and yet the CEL came on in a few days. Is there a solution to this problem?
Why does the same software NOT have this problem on ALL the cars on the same make/model/year? That I dont understand and would like to know. Thanks |

Different engines, options combinations, manufacturing variances in sensors, etc.

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better and a lot less "fooled". Even though its an annoyance, I will have to wait for my new OBDII reader that I purchased online yesterday, to see the codes myself and hope to discover this mystery! Sounds fun, albeit the annoyance. I always enjoy being Sherlock Holmes. Looks like BMW has not only given me a nice vehicle for the money I paid, but a nice riddle to solve!
