Anyone ever use them for a purchase certificate and actually get their quoted price? I priced out the car I am looking for and got one dealer with $250 over invoice which is better than my current best offer.

I am dealing with an internet salesman that we have used in the past. He is offering me $500 over invoice and if we buy a car through him this will be #5 that we (different family members) would have bought through him so I plan on showing him this offer.

I December, I tried to buy a VW Golf using their referral and certificate. The dealer had the exact car including color & options as listed on the certificate quoted as $XX over invoice on an $18K car. Went to the dealer, found the car and they indeed offered it to me at $XX over invoice.
Problem is their final "out-the-door" price did not agree with my calculations, but was about $500 over what I thought I should be paying. Upon examination of the sales figures they were adding 2 additional dealer charges totaling $500 that were not factored into the truecar quote.

The service is great. You do need to remember that you are building a theoretical vehicle. The price you're given is an invoice offset (e.g., 100 over invoice). Once you select your vehicle at the dealership, you simply look at the invoice, which the dealer is required to show you under the TrueCar program, and apply the guaranteed invoice offset. It's simple and very effective. In California, there is a $500 MACO advertising fee that gets included in the invoice price, which sometimes doesn't get calculated in the TrueCar provided invoice.

I had thrown an offer off true car on a 2011 x6 at a dealer in PA based off the truecar and he agreed to it at $100 over factory invoice which I thought was cool. We're going in next week to hopefully order a 550 xdrive (just can't get over that cars greatness). I'm hoping if we build (as we can get the sport/ drive package's) they'll keep it around factory invoice . I do worry about speeding when it comes.

The other dealers in our area (DC/ MD /VA) all don't like talking price via the internet like that PA dealer who basically said let me check with my boss , 2 hours later had an approved and offer to make a deposit. Here they want you to come in, send them all kinds of info... Its a real pain just trying to see where the best offer is.

Wow, I guess I can see how sales people have such a hard time when people haggle over $250 on a $60K car. The OP has purchased 4 cars from the dealer and is worried about $250 when the original deal she was presented with was pretty darn good. I would just pay the $500 over invoice and understand that I got a good deal. That's me. I figure I might actually need something from my dealer at one time or another so I don't want to rob them blind, so to speak. Would the OP walk if she gets $250 at another dealer -- probably.

Maybe I'm stupid, but for example, I've been dealing with a particular bank for over 25 years. Their loan rates are very competitive, but not necessarily the very lowest. They treat me very well and help me streamline the process whenever I buy a new car. I might be able to get 1% lower if I do a lot of shopping around, but the difference on my loan really doesn't amount to much and I value the business relationship I've built over the years. Sometimes I need a favor from them at the end of the loan and they are accommodating. They are not "robbing" me, again a very good loan rate, but our mutual respect is worth something, IMO.

Well it never hurts to ask. We ordered the car yesterday and paid the $500 over invoice.

Same way. On a quality car like this if you're getting it for under the average national price then you've done a good job, sure they could sell it to you cheap, but then you might not have a BMW dealer to buy from in the future as they'd probably be out of business.

I told my pops if we can get the 550i for between $70,850- and $75,000 with the options and packages we want then we win regardless. Because on a car with this much greatness it feels foolish to get everything you want and then walk when it gets down to haggling over $100-1000 bucks, on a product thats retailing for close to $80000 (with options)

Congratulations! What colors did you settle on? Good luck with the wait.

Space gray with black interior. I'm really excited. Our lease on the 328 is up in May and we should have the new one by the then.

We ordered

Premium 1 & 2
Convenience Package
Sport package
Xenon headlights
6NR

Now to wait until we get the production number.

Sounds nice. I think that may look better than the Dark Graphite/Gray, although both sound good.

The dark graphite was just too dark for us. Our son has the space gray/black combination on his 335i and it really looks good.
