How I got rid of my hard downshift problem

I had some really hard downshift from 2. to 1. on my car, and it really took away my driving pleasure.
I have tried the gas pedal reset and I felt that it helped for a short time , but the problem came back very soon , and I started to get desperat and was afraid to damage the car.

This didn't happen every time , so I felt it was a software problem ,
and I decided to take a look at it myself.

I bought this OBDII cable

and installed EasDIS 44 from this link

The diagnosis did not show any fault on the tranny , but when I was playing with DIS I noticed that there was a place I could " Reset all adaption values "
In my mind it could not be any worse , so I decided to give it a try.

When I tested the car later on it felt like I was driving it out from the factory in Germany ,
it shifted like a drean , and has done so since ( 5000 km )

huge find that problem plagued me (and many others) for months.

Very cool.

How much HD space was needed for those programs? I have only around 5GB left.

I was told that you can do that under EGS module in INPA. Press F7 to reset. Personally, I've never done it before.

Thanks. I run into your post of bimmerforums as well. You plan on doing this? My car is parked until it stops snowing so I can't really test this out.

Probably INPA can do this ,
but I recommend you to install DIS anyway.
It is a very usefull diagnostic tool where you can get all kind of information.

I had some PDC and Dynamic drive alarms earlyer ,
and when I looked at the Powermodule it was coursed by low battery.

Now I conect a charger now and then , and the alarms are gone . . .

I plan on installing DIS but I need a new computer with more RAM to make the vmware machine run efficiently.

Is there another means to get the DIS files? Part 3 times out on me, been trying for two days, I don't get it since it's the smaller of all three files.

Thanks Hansse, now I need a tutorial on how to put the 3 parts together to make the disc or is it 3 separate disc?

You need WinRAR to extract the contents. You can download and install it. After that, you can just double click the first of the 3 files and it will open. Then click "Extract To" and the contents will be saved to the location you choose.

First: might this help me with my car having odd shifting patterns?

Also: Is there a way to make the unlock (security) sound louder with this cable?

In addition to that DIY you need INPA and some unix/interface experience to get the INPA to talk to the DIS and the cable you have to talk to everything. In other words not easy. About a quarter of the way down this page http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1385070 is a link and password to an ftp site that has a diy for making INPA and DIS work together. 7 hours in and I still haven't got DIS communicating with my car.

Also, for those who prefer a faster download of DIS V44 there is a torrent here http://www.torrentportal.com/details...95/&filelist=1

Can anyone tell me where I can get the DIS in one file rather than three parts, I'm having difficulty combining the files with Winrar, each time I make a folder and tell it to extract the files there it overwrites the previous file there is change in the size of the file. Can anyone please advise?

Hanssae how did you get DIS to work? For some reason mine does talk to the OBD2 cable, what your laptop settings?

I had my shop hook me up with resetting all adaptation values and they did it for free.....nice guys eh?

There was a seller on Ebay charging around 30 bucks for all downloads, on a CD. It contained TIS, DIS, INPA, NCSexpert, & Progman. It will save a lot of downloading time. Then you still have to install it, & make it run with your computer. DIS was originally run on a old T30 IBM thinkpad!

Once getting it installed, you still have to teach yourself how to use it. There are no instructions for DIS. Great troubleshooting equipment!

Perhaps you should try to make three discrete files and save each successive zipped file to the three folders you create. Afterwards, just move all the files into one folder. I'm a mac person and probably not the best person for advice, but that would be the next thing I would try.
