sun roof won't stop at closed position

Ive recently purchased a 1998 540i. The sun roof is not closing. It will operate fully opened and fully tiled, always runs right past the fully closed and sealed shut spot.

Any suggestions as to why? Quite frustrating now that winter is here. I have found the tool and method for closing it manually, wheather is not coming but I'd like to get it to operate correctly.

Thanks in advance,

PWS

press the sunroof switch in, instead of sliding it

that resets the system, sometimes that works

More information may be found by typing /sunroof F3 in the bestlinks, e.g.,
- How to repair & reset the sunroof or moonroof (1) (2) (3) & how to remove the headliner (1) & how to free up a stuck open sunroof or moonroof (1) (2)

i think you are closing it wrong.from full open,to close, slide switch forward and hold.to tilt from full open, push switch up momentarily and release.the roof will go all the way to tilt.to close from tilt, slide switch fwd and hold.to open from full close, slide the switch aft momentarily.to tilt from full close, push switch up and hold.
