Wind deflector question

I am thinking about purchasing a wind deflector for my 645 vert but I am a little concerned about how much leg room I will have when it is in use. I am 6'3 and the seat goes all the way back almost even with the holes on the side where the deflector would fit into too.

I can spare a little bit less leg room but will this be enough to fit the deflector or will I need to have the seat more forward for it to fit? Does anyone have an idea on how many inches (feet) from the back seat to the back of the front seats this deflector will need?

The wind deflector is a must. Don't worry, you will still fit perfectly

+1000

I'm on my 4th vert and would never own one with a windscreen.

Thanks everybody for your feedback. I now have to find one at a good price. I will check e-bay and see what I can find. I really don't want to pay the prices at the stealership. Living in Vegas, the top is down almost daily. Thanks again.

Way off topic here...I'm heading to Vegas on April 4th (this will be my first visit). I'll be staying for 5 days. I'm planning on renting a car on Tuesday & Wednesday to go and see the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Do you have any other recommendations for me to see while I'm there?

+1

I own a convertibile for the wind-in-my-hair feeling. I cannot imagine why I would want to eliminate that.

It keeps the chill off the back of my neck on those cooler days/evenings also when going on long road trips it keeps the wind noise down and for my wife it keeps the hair out of her face.

Wind as it passes over the windshield circles down and forward, which is why you see the hair of those with long hair flying forward. The windscreen eliminates the turbulence of the wind by blocking both downward and forward flowing wind with the windscreen having both a horizontal piece (eliminating the downward flow) and the semi-vertical piece (eliminating the forward flow).

You don't lose the "wind in my hair" feeling at all; you just gain a far more enjoyable version of it. I laugh when I see convertible owners (of any car manufacturer and not just BMWs) with their windows up - they're not stopping the greatest source of wind at all. I drive at 80 mph with the windscreen and the windows down and have a much better driving experience than those with no windscreen and the windows up. I've had 4 verts and have been using a windscreen for about 3 1/2 of them (I learned on my first one).

+1 on the explanation - it also increases top down usage at chillier temps b/c you can control the cabin temp better without the reverse circulation/backdraft.

That's very subjective. To each his own. I still prefer the wind, but I'm obviously the odd man out.

I have never had windshields on my Harley's either - still don't.

Enjoy your ride - any way you prefer.

One thing I found out and I'm not sure if the wind screen had anything to do with it, was that the back seat accumulates a lot of soot at the top and in the seat.... (My cream colored leather looked black in some places)
I don't remove mine often but took it off and was amazed at the filth. It actually scared me for my leather and I immediately took it to the detailers to have my leather professionally cleaned.
So take a look and make sure you don't run into the same problem I did....

I have the creme beige leather as well and I do notice some dark areas especially at the tops of the headrest in the back seat and where there are creases. I leave the top down in the garage alot, maybe thats not such a good idea. The garage is spotless but it does get windy here in Vegas and there is alot of dust blowing around at times.
