03 745Li - Problem
745Li Problem
Hi guys. Have a great 2003 745Li with 122k. Decided no more money for the stealership. I've had all kinds of cars and been a DIY for a 70 SS 396 camaro, 68 350 firebird and 74 corvette. Never worked on anything with all this computer stuff. I developed a coolant leak from the weep hole last week. Put the car on auto ramps after buying the all German Auto coolant pipe and kit and it went in like a dream. However, despite marking all wires and other parts etc., when everything was back together, I started the car and at first I heard a knocking sound and then valve lifter noise like if the timing was all screwed up or no oil in the engine. Received the usual "engine malfunction" and "service engine soon" lights. I bought a Peak Research tool for diagnosis. The following codes came up: 1. 2786 - throttle valve potentiometer 1 2. 2781- camshaft sensor inlet 3. 27A8 - activation EV4 4. 274E - misfire detection 5. 2744 - misfire detection cyl. 4 6. 2745 - misfire detection cyl. 8 7. 2749 - misfire detection cyl. 2 Can anybody guide me on how to resolve this problem? Car was running great before coolant leak. I was thinking it might be a sensor problem or vacuum problem but I'm not sure where to start. Need your help. Thanks. Could be VANOS – solenoid problem too! Might be dirty or defective. |
