Contemplating ordering 2012 BMW X5 35i

Just test drove the X5 and am in love. I'm seriously thinking of ordering the 2012 X5 35i premium:

black sapphire, oyster, conv, tech, cold weather, premium sound, 3rd row, multicontour seats, running board, bmw apps, smartphone integration

I'm sure many of you may be tired of getting this question, but since this is extremely expensive purchase, I really would like to get an idea of the range of a reasonable price to pay. MSRP is about $66,825.

Thanks!

Go to truecar.com, build your car, bring it to the dealer and tell them that you want to pay the best price in you area. Tell them that you can go to whoever is offering that price with no problem. I paid $200 under invoice for mine. I would start negotiating @ $1000 under invoice. It may take some teeth pulling, but they will make a deal if you have some comparisons to show them. Good luck! I'm picking mine up next week!

I ordered (finally confirmed) a X5 50i, the stealership accepted 3% off MSRP. I tried several sources (Edmunds, eBay, Costco - probably the best one, truecar etc) where you build a car and go to the stealership with a box of Kleenex to cry some discount, but as it's a 2012, none of my sources had building tool available.
Using the same specs on a 2011, the MSRP was 81k, truecar price 77, Costco 76. I'm paying about 73 in mine, one year newer... The packages for 2012 are more interesting as well the standard features.
At the time to pick up the car I should have one of the options above for 2012, so more crying on top of the 3% shall come...
One thing, for 66, you're very close to a decently equipped V8 (MSRP 63.8 w/ more standard features)...

Its too bad those sources aren't updated, but in the end, what's a few percent extra for the joy of driving a bmw??? Congrats on your purchase!

About $1000 over invoice is a fair price. I was able to get just under that on the 2012 I ordered, almost identical to what you listed above.

Have you actually sat in those 3rd row seats though? The seats are extremely small and unless you have very small children to sit back there, they're almost a complete waste. Adults, even small ones, would be very uncomfortable back there. Leaving them out saves you about $1700.

Good luck! I can't wait for mine to finally arrive in about a month.

We picked up our x5D last night (2011). We do have the 3rd row option and I am extremely glad we got it. I have a 5 & 6 yr. old that can sit back there just fine. Haven't tried the 9 yr. old. However, the younger ones were sitting back there, the middle row was pushed all the way back and the kids hade plenty of leg room...while sitting in booster seats that are slightly too big for the seat itself. Also, my 6'3" husband was able to sit in the middle row comfortably as the salesman was going over all the options. With the 3rd row set up, I still have room for groceries. I may not be able to stock up, but I could definitely get a good amount in there. With the 3rd row folded down...I could definitely fit a lot back there. This vehicle is going to be the perfect Mommy car! Just my $0.02...
